Rolex 6426 general enquiry

Hello, first time poster. Be gentle thanks

Ive fallen in love with Ref no 6426 and want to buy my first vintage rolex.

Ive been offered this watch from early 70's

I think it's beautiful it but seems too good to be true. Have been told it's the original dial and crown and keeping +/-8s day measured flat. Case must have been polished /refinished but that doesn't bother me as much as others.

Any input from wiser and more experienced heads would be very much appreciated regards the originality and how much i'm likely to be paying over the odds.

Have been offered the watch at £2750 which is a little over my budget but i just love the look of the thing.

thanks for any help/opinions offered.

Hello and welcome to the board. I am not going to open any attachments from a new user unfortunately so I cant see the watch in question.
Most 6426 dials will show their age. If a dial is perfect then most likely it has been repainted or swapped out. This is an entry level watch so collector value isnt effected by a repaint or a dial swap. If you like the look of it then buy it and enjoy it.

Looks legit overall - hard to tell on the dial due to the absolutely terrible photos. Could be a very nice linen dial with metal hashes but cannot tall due to lack of depth, focus, and clarity.

Looks ok at first glance, the lume in the hands is discolored obviously. However, I believe this is a 34mm, hand-winding watch without a bracelet. so I can't imagine paying the equivalent of $3250 USD. I recently bought a really nice vintage linen dial Datejust (36mm automatic) with full-length bracelet for less.

Hello and welcome. Have to agree with Dan at £2750 your paying well over the odds. On a leather strap tops should be £2.2 - £2.3k. I would suggest you keep looking and find a good example on a bracelet for what they are asking.

Yeah it’s the linen dial that attracts me. I think it’s stunning
