The tell for the MK2 is in the ‘E’ in ROLEX, which is covered in this photo. Nonetheless, I don’t think it’s an MK2 as the Swiss T<25 should be above the minute track.

I think this is an MK3, which can be original or service. What is the serial range for the watch? That will help determine.

In that case, I suspect service dial but let’s see what the experts here think.

1.7 is likely a little earlier than that if it helps

Circa £5k for a 1016 is cheap. The usual fig for a non gilt is £10k.

A 1.7 mill would have come on the last of the non-chapter ring gilts or more likely a MK1 frogs foot matte.

If it was a later tritium production and/or tritium service dial it would affect price by circa 15-25% imho.

A later Luminova or T25 Tritinova by about 30-35% though imho, as they loose the patina.

I've not looked to confirm but if it's a good relume £5k is still good. But of course a relume is not for many/everyone.

Two mint non-service matte 1016 dials sold for about £3000-3500 each on eBay. Often they go for £2000.

A common, often a service, white matte tritium sold for £1600.

I glanced online on eBay to see if I could find another dial. there's a frog foot for it, but it's not in the best of shape, there's also another dial in Germany but I know it is a fake as the seller lots of Vietnam Singer dials "time to invest" If anyone sees a good dial please let me know it might be worth saving this watch but only with the right dial of course. The biggest issue is now, what do I do with this watch send it back or keep it for the 7K, knowing it's a service dial and also the movement needs servicing.

As L and J both said it's a service dial.

A mark 3.

Actually one of my favourites, it's the most common and used 3 times on production models (and service) over the years.

Can you get some better photos as the relume is subtle, if it's had one. The text font is really distorted so be good to get better macro photos of the text and also the hour markers incl the 6 and 12.

If it's ok I'd personally not bother and just wear it as a cheap tritium 1016 until something turns up....but if a MK1 turns up at a fair price, tbh honest you'd get nearly as much (65-70%) for the Mk3 dial if you sold it afterwards as you paid for the MK1. It's the gilts that command big money eg £4, 5...6...8k !

I would also check the engravings and caseback though to ensure the case is good as that's 40-50% of value of a matte 1016.

Would you not consider a light sympathetic polish when it’s serviced. I’m sure it would look great afterwards. Hopefully, if you didn’t want to replace it, the Acrylic Crystal should come up pretty good as well. Lots of options, for the bracelet as well - either getting the Jubilee restored or finding a suitable Oyster replacement. Good luck - am looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

I see this as a potential rescue mission, so maybe send it to Rolliworks or somewhere else to do the bracelet and case as well as the service. If I could get a nice dial for then even better.

Sounds like a plan - I have seen other forum members speak highly of the work they have had done by Rolliworks. Good luck!

Why do you think it's relumed? For 6k I think you did fine.

the watch smith told me that it's been relumed also that the movement has some issues but not surprising really as It hasn't been serviced in a very long time.

A few better-quality images of the dial? Wondering this is a service dial or a relumed dial? Is it worth saving with the right dial? Also need to find the right one now.

And i was wrong the serial number is 4383xxx which makes it 1960's I think
