Cannot decide -Rolex or AP ???

Hi all,

Lately I have felt that my SubC is not that 'fun' anymore, I normally use my PAM112 all the time and the SubC sit in the watchbox :-(

I now have a chance to trade (and some cash) for an AP Royal Oak (Ref15300) What are your thoughts? I know I possibly will regret it in the long run but in the same time it feel like a waste having the SubC in the box?

Is the AP 15300 a good daily wearer (office environment), and for nights out and a glass of Rose wine and maybe an dip in the ocean from now and then?

I have other watches as my PAM112 and other beaters for real dirty jobs around the house etc...

I will trade my SubC and sell my Longines Legend Diver to cover the difference..

This will leave me with 2 'real watches the PAM112 and the AP...

What are your thoughts?

Keep the Sub and continue to enjoy the 112. That's what I do. I wouldn't trade for an AP.

But, ultimately it's all about what you like to enjoy. If the Sub is "Subpar" get the AP. They are very nice as well.

All the highend nice watches are made for daily wear then some. That is not an issue.

Rolex old website had a place to go that said every single watch they make is made for daily wear "with various activities." I can't find it on their new website but all still holds true.

Love the AP however the Sub is probably the best daily wearer you can have. I would say it depends on your needs, the AP has a low water resistance rating so not sure if this matters or not. I was in this boat last month when I was looking at the Royal Oak Chrono and the 15300. Ended up going with the Daytona because I felt it made a better daily wearer. I would keep the Sub and save for the AP. Good luck!

Black dial, one concern is that it might wear smaller the SubC??? only 1mm difference but still...

Can anyone advise regarding the size???

Size is fine, wears bigger than AP states due to the overall design of the watch. When I tried it on it was extremely comfortable. I would say much lighter than the Sub-C.

39mm I believe. 1mm short of the Sub. It looks to be very similar least looking at pics of it. Looks nice.

I still think the Sub is a way better daily wear watch. And way better water resistance for it's size.

Martin, I would definitively keep the Sub and save up for the 15300.
Regarding the size it would wear smaller then the Sub.

Don't get me wrong I love the iconic 15300 but wouldn't want to trade away one of the best "beater" there is for it.

I had the blue 15300-- nice watch but it turned out to be too sparkly and dressy for me. If you wear business casual it will probably work ok. I loved the 60 hour power reserve.

I sold it & am going the opposite direction and using the funds for a Sub C. Rolex is much more understated. One of my grail watches is still the Royal Oak Chrono panda.

I love the 15300, but not as a replacement to the Sub C. Keep the Sub or you will most likely end up re-buying it in the future for more $$.

agree with most of the comments here. keep the sub and get the ap if you really want it. you have a nice trio with the pam and the legend diver, if you keep the sub, the ap will be a perfect addition.

As for the 15300 size...thin and super comfortable. No easylink/glidelock or equivalent, but I never wished it had one.

The sub-c bulkiness is the only con on my list...hoping after a few months it won't be an issue. Definitely not expecting it to be a daily wearer.

I had 142790(36mm Royal Oak) for a while and can say AP is a great looking watch.

I loved the gray-ish dial on mine.

AP makes nice watches but you can buy a lot of Rolex's for the price of one AP.

I've been considering getting an AP, but I personally would want to trade a SubC for an AP.

Do what makes you happiest.

If you're not wearing the SubC, then that has to say something. I say go for the AP, especially since the PAM is your "daily."

Try the 15300, if you end up not in love with it the Sub will always be around.

In your shoes I would sell the Panerai and buy the 15300 with the white dial.

The SubC and AP would make the perfect pair for me!

Well..both pieces can be obtained down the road..so don't let that affect your decision...

the AP will be more dressy...
I have the Diver but if I was going to go river rafting, the sub will get the call...
