I haven't seen any pics here of the Ranger on the camo strap. Has anyone tried it on yet? I did, and found it a little too short for comfort for my average size wrists (7.25 inch). Looks better in commercial photos, IMO.

I would agree with that Adam
I tried it very briefly and although I desperately wanted it to be great I removed it after about an hour. I have stuck to the Black Bay Leather with a Bund.
Its seriously comfy and I wear it all day every day.
Need to dust off the Pelagos for the Summer months though, If we get one in the UK.
Will definitely be taking the Pelagos to Mexico this year on my Holiday with the missus.
I have a 6.5 - 7 inch Wrist and I love the 41mm and 42mm Tudors. The Camo strap just didn't do it for me.

I had the same feelings about Tudor's THC nylon strap too.

I have only worn my Blue THC on the nylon and love it! I'm looking forward to changing the Ranger to the green camo, I'll see how it goes.

Same thing for me. I love the feel of the fabric strap, but Tudor makes their fabric straps for small wristed people. I have 7.5" wrists and it barely fit. I was on like the 2nd to last hole. Just didn't like that.

Interesting Ranger Fact

While the Ranger is generally thought of as Tudor’s answer to the Rolex Explorer, its lineage can be traced back almost 25 years earlier than the Explorer’s, at least in name.

According to Dowling & Hess, Rolex first registered the Explorer name in January 1953, but the Ranger name was registered in October 1929.

I wonder if it went unused until the first Tudor Rangers appeared in the late 1960s, or if there was ever a watch made in the interim that had Ranger on the dial.

Almost looks like they Patented whatever they though they might use sometime in the future. Even if it was decades away.

Sure, the one above is the best one, in my opinion...plenty of in-depth history and loads of photos. You can find them secondhand on Amazon. The one in my pic is the latest edition.

Do you prefer the Nato style to the Bund or vice versa?

I prefere the bund, but I'm awaiting some Bics' 4 before I use it more. Not that I don't think it can't handle some use, but I really want to take care of it. I also have ordered 2 natos, 1 Zulu and 2 Meyhofer leather straps! Will most likely change often. But bund looks and feels best, but the fabric strap withstand water a lot better

Bought one yesterday on the leather strap here in Los Angeles where we have been visiting family. In order to save the 9% CA sales tax (on top of the 9% Oregon income tax we already paid) I elected to have it mailed home. So no pictures yet. I had been put off by the 2824 movement and some reports of poor out of the box accuracy...but the great vintage looks overcame my doubts. Update in a week!

I think the ETA/Tudor 2824 works well in this watch as it is a no-nonsense Ranger ftw! The ETA movement is, as far as I know, a TOP grade and looks to be finished quite nice actually for it beeing a workhorse (I've not opened mine, but I have seen the actual movement in another ranger).

Now, I have been logging the accuracy of mine and in 8 days it has gained about 5-6 sec. It does seem to loose 0.something when worn, and then dial up at night will make it gain slightly.

Resting dial up it will gain about 3 sek in 24H, but it never rests for more than say 6-9 hours in this position.

As far as I can tell, crown up will also make it gain ever so slightly, but about 1.5 sek or less in 24H.

I've not checked dial down, crown down or 12 or 6 down.

So I'm more than happy about the accuracy of mine!

And I have and have had a few other watches with the ETA 2824 movement and setting time and winding on the Ranger seems smoother and tighter. Allthough I'm pleased with the accuracy of my Longines Hydroconquest. Came back from warranty service with a replaced movement due to winding failed. It did about -2 sec in 24h. Opened the caseback and turned the fine adjustment screw a notch or something. It has now gained 4 sec in 24h over a couple of months. 4 sec no matter what position it rests in.

I had my Ranger regulated twice by my local RSC. Started out +6 per 24, they took it to -4, then to the current +4, which I can live with.

Congrats to you Gary! It'll go well with your Explorer and Explorer II Polar. I'm very interested in what your critique on the Ranger is and how it compares to the Explorer. Guess I'll have to wait a week like everyone else.

New vintage leather strap from Germany. Colour is described as Mocha. I had a similar one that was 20mm, so didn't look quite right. This one is quite hefty, but I guess it will soften up in time.

That is a really nice leather strap! I've just gotten a couple of straps in the mail from The Nato Strap Co.

Gotta say i'm pretty pleased with the quality of these straps. First of all they had straps wich are long enough. Secondly they are quite thick - almost to thick for the short lugs of the ranger And the edge of the pin holes - is it? are stiched or melted (hard to tell). I guess it will prevent the holes from stretch... eh.. that came out weird though Hardware is big and rugged.

Those look like great quality. Just took mine for a test drive with the dog. The Ranger really is an outdoor watch. Looks best in the wild.

Looks like strap bonanza today! Was at my local post office and picked up two Meyhofer leather straps. One of them just didn't mach the wach, but this one does: Meyhofer Messina!

And for the record - this is the most comfortable leather strap I've ever encountered. Just melts around my wrist.
