Pam249 - prefer old or new?

Something refreshingly charming and simplistic about this. Sadly, I feel butchered by later iterations. Thoughts?

The 249 is a classic for sure, but I think the modern interpretations have their place as well. Imagine if a Rolex made the submariner 60 years ago as a small limited edition and refused to ever make anymore ...
Brands like Omega, Rolex, Heuer, etc, continue to regurgitate the same designs for decades and for some reason get very little criticism. With Panerai everyone wants designs to be a one off and then put away in the archives never to be seen again. It just isn't realistic.
There is only 249 and it is a limited edition watch. Regardless if they make more that are the same design the 249 is still protected as a limited addition as are many others like the 232 and so on.
