Hulk vs DJ41

In a perfect world I would get both... but alas fear of the poor house and an empty beer fridge I must settle for 1. I currently have a BLNR and I'm having the hardest time making a call.

Hulk: slightly used, full kit, 2016 model, excellent condition

or

DJ 41 (blue dial, 18kt wg bezel, jubilee bracelet) brand new from the ad will be cheaper than the hulk by about $300-$500.

My initial pick was the DJ41 but I keep going back and forth.

I agree with this comment. The DJ41 will add to the collection nicely.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had the same exact dilemma between the same exact two watches. Just a couple of weeks ago, I made my mind up and went with the DateJust41. Because I'm an Attorney/Judge, I am in a suit often, and decided the DateJust41 would be first. However, I very much plan to get the Hulk at some point in the future as my casual watch. I'm hoping Rolex will go the 3235 movement for the Hulk just as I'm ready to buy.

In addition to the above recommendations...

Hulk would be a better investment.

In your list above, you are buying it preowned so it has already absorbed a bit of depreciation. DJ41 is new so it will instantly lose value the minute you take stickers off.

Rolex sport models seem to preserve their value better over the years so hulk won't depreciate as much. Given, very much like me, you have empty beer fridge worries, this might play a role in you decision.

That DJ41 with blue dial fluted on jubilee is the exact Rolex I want next. I have a BLNR. Will sale a 114060 for the DJ41. Thing is I plan to buy pre owned as all my Rolex watches I've bought pre owned. Since they fairly new the market doesn't have them pre owned yet with this set up. I will wait once I find one and buy it. My desirable set up is BLNR and DJ41.

I'll vote Hulk too. It's the most exciting SS sport model IMO.

My opinion is a black dial and blue dial is a must in the collection. I have a blue YM so the black DJ41 was perfect for me and the jubilee is a nice change from the oyster bracelet and super comfortable. Green doesn't fit into my lifestyle at all so I don't quite appreciate the Hulk like so many on TRF.

I bought my DJ41 right here on this forum pre-owned. Seller bought it from AD in June of 2017 and sold it to me here in July of 2017.

I'm waiting for my watch guy (popular seller here) to source me one. Blue dial. Fluted. Jubilee.

I was waiting for the same exact combination, but after doing extensive research, I shocked myself by going with Blue/Smooth/Jubilee instead. I'm very happy with my decision. The combination is such a great balance between dressy and sporty. I think fluted or smooth would work well, but the Jubilee is an absolute must!

I totally agree with you. I was all in for the fluted bezel with the jubilee and when I tried on the smooth bezel it totally sang to me. I think it's perfectly balanced as well. I can wear it to work and with shorts and a t-shirt on the weekends. Perhaps I was influenced by the fact that I was almost going to buy a new Explorer 1 with lume.

I don't get all the love for the Hulk. I just don't see that green watch as versatile as the DJ in any situation be it dress or weekend.

With respect to those leaning DJ, I've recently completed the BLNR-LVc daily double. I'm finding the hulk is like the somewhat loud and at times inappropriate big lug that you nevertheless don't mind having at the barbecue. The green sunburst dial is mesmerizing and is all the more fun when it tricks you into thinking it looks like a black dial in certain moments.

What about going with the BLNR-Hulk combo, but getting a super jubilee to give your BLNR a DJ-esque feel every now and then?

Hulk is a wonderful watch.

Is it the wear all, do anything watch? Imho, no. It's not. It's a great rotation piece.

The DJ41 is the quintessential everyday, do anything wrist asset.
