It looks like it fits your wrist well. Why did you decide to pass on it or were you never really interested in it and just wanted to check it out?

It just did not sing to me like I thought it would. Lately I've been loving my simple watches like my 5512 and my Pam 210.
Since turning 31 last week I'm getting old and dull. Lol

No reason to make a purchase if it doesn't sing to you. It is amazing how you think you think you like or don't like a watch from pictures etc. but when you see it in person everything changes.

Wow looks great on your wrist, the white dial really pops! I know the waiting list is long, but I doubt many people will pay over MSRP for this new release. Just look at the For Sale section, many individuals trying to sell their 42mm EXP II for a $1-1.3k profit.

I think I saw one person in the FS section trying to sell @ $9.1k at some point. Your saying your AD offered $7k out the door?

Florida has a state sales tax so it would have been plus tax.

I agree it looks good on your wrist (Size wise) but that just doesn't sing to me either. Good idea seeing in person that is the only way to tell. I am sure I will see some in Vegas when I am out there in new year...I'm in no hurry though.

Matt your not old and dull yet but I fee ya about tastes changing... I'm thinking Skynyrd -Simple Man can be your theme song for this stage!!!

will you share?

I agree Rolex should have kept it unique, like it was in the 1970's...."pencil" type min. & hr. hands vs. the "mercedes" hands......oh well......I'm happy with my old ones........

Bob,

Having two of those must be some sort of crime. I should have one of them. Shall I send you my address?

Back in 1973 when I got my 1655 & in 1974, when my dad got his.......the ADs in Hong Kong couldn't give this model away, everyone...tourists & locals wanted either a datejust or daydate.....& if it was a sport model......GMT or Sub......the Hong Kong AD wouldn't deal much on those, but we picked up our 1655's at a bargain price.
I am curious how it (the new version) will do w/ the great unwashed....the general Rolex buying public, not us loveable cognoscenti????

Bob if either one of those were a T<25 I would want to buy one. Nonetheless I personally am glad Rolex took the modern route with the 216570 it makes my hunt to find a 1655 more exciting. Funny enough the 1655 was a model that many collectors despised until folks woke up and appreciated the Explorers unique features. I can still hear my dad saying why do you want a 1655? You can't even tell time on it! Oh well as Will Smith said - Parents just don't understand!
