A friend has put me in touch with an older gentleman, who is selling as described by him as "...a Sea Dweller with red lettering on two lines. All the rest of the lettering is in mustard golden color matching the hour markers perfectly...".

Has anyone run across a gilt DRSD dial before? he's trying to have a younger member of his family email some pics, but it may take awhile. By car, he is about three hours away. Thanks in advance mates for your advice...

never was a gilt DRSD.

no gilt double reds - must just be patination on hour plots - lettering should be white, unless something happened...

Yes...I agree. The lettering should be white as far as I know. I'm going to get (i.e., try to get) a few pics, but am leaning towards a replica.

Update: The son called me back and indicated that the watch was NOT for sale! Apparently there is some miscommunication going on at his end. I approached the son with my concerns and he was rather put off and said he would "look into it". Really don't think we are going to get a definitive answer on this one as pics are not coming. That was rather anticlimactic...

You never know.......Next time might be finding the rarest time capsule of a vintage Rolex sports model. Keep looking my friend......They are out there

Gilt dial era ended 10-15 years before the Double Red started, hence improbable at best.

10-15? Make that 4 or so. First DRSD is from 1967.
