My DJ41 not available on the Rolex website

So... someone please check me on this and if I am wrong will admit to being a complete Dorklehead, but... let's start from the begining.

When the New Dj41 came out a year or so ago in TT, I was already dreaming of the SS version. When that appeared this year, I got really excited and started creating my dream watch. I decided the combination I wanted was:

White Face
Fluted Bezel
Oyster Bracelet

Now we can discuss my choice for a hundred years and maybe some of you think this is the ugliest/worst combination, prefer the smooth bezel or jubilee or whatever, more power to you. This is just what I wanted and lusted for. I never saw it appear on the website but within a week was at my AD asking if this were possible. Because I have a great relationship with them they called Rolex and discovered this combination would be available The money went over the counter. In July, Larry (BNLion) was kind enough to escort me when I picked up my new DJ41 LOVE IT!

STILL, this combination is not shown on the Rolex website. Why? How many other combinations are not? Is there some sinister plot here? Wouldn't it make sense to show every available combination so customers can find/purchase the watch they want? Or.... Maybe I am so well loved at Rolex they made up a one of a kind watch just for me!

I picked up my watch well over a month ago, so it's definitely available, why doesn't Rolex show it on their site?

It's not in the website so you must have a one-of-a-kind! Either that or there are a bazillion different datejust configurations and the Rolex.com configurator can only handle 99% of them.

I posit there are more combinations than they could reasonably show. Also, sometimes when there are too many choices people have trouble making a decision and end up buying nothing or putting the decision off so long they move on to something else.

Rolex needs to improve their web site so it shows more configurations.

So not every possible configuration of a watch is shown? That's not good. How are buyers supposed to know what is possible before going in to a Rolex store and annoying the staff with questions they may or may not know the right answer to?

I think there are already too many choices...on the 41mm alone I counted 52 permutations...!!!

That's before you start counting the 36mm and 31mm... Craziness!

Similar but not the same, that is the older DJII model, discontinued by Rolex.

A great watch for sure, but not the current model.

It says Datejust II. His is not a Datejust II. It's a Datejust 41.

That's a nice watch but still a "Datejust II" which is the older model. It was distributed (and I guess manufactured) right up until being replaced by the DJ 41, in March of this year; I am sure that's why they are calling it a 2017 model. There are subtle differences bewteeen the two, but ones I chose to wait for and get the new DJ 41. I am sure there are lots of new Datejust IIs around to be bought, but they are not on the Rolex website anymore.

(And neither is my DJ 41 )

Ok - you are right about one thing though..the differences are very subtle - almost to the point of looking identical, but I accept they are different watches.

Definitely, outwards the case is SLIGHTLY different as is the bezel. The indicies on the dial are thinner on the 41, but the biggest reason I chose to wait is for the new movement inside, it is a 3235, I believe the Datejust II had the 3155(?). Anyway they are very very similar.

If Alpino see this thread, he'll probably check the catalog. It's my understanding that the website does not include the entire Rolex catalog.

The Rolex website has never had all the watch combinations in the catalog.

It would be interesting to know what else they are hiding.

For quite some time the 14060M was not listed on the website.

Nice watch, by the way.

That is my favorite configuration. My favorite dial is blue but other than that that is what i would pick. I have yet to see it in that configuration at an AD either but it is on the website (in blue). I guess most people don't pick Oyster bracelet, fluted, batons? Its weird because that is the marketing configuration in the official photos.

Most of the DJ 41's I have seen with a fluted bezel seem to automatically come on a jubilee at most of the AD's i have been to.

Sharp watch. Nice to know that you can get what you want by asking.

Now... how about that new Pepsi GMT in stainless steel?
