USA watch buying
Hi, I'm in the market for a new watch to add to my collection and have decided I quiet like the Panerai PAM01352. In the UK they are $7000 but looking on Chrono24 you can get them for $5750. I have a friend in NYC coming over to the UK in August, do you guys have any advice re buying Panerai over in the USA. Has anyone bought from watchmaxx.com in Brooklyn or Jomashop?

1352? I just saw the 1351 for the first time last week. Are you sure you have the right model number?

Consider buying from a TRF trusted seller like DavidSW, ship to your friend's house and then have him bring it over. Only thing I'm not sure about is customs in that case....

2 concerns....exchange rate and VAT/customs.
Do your sums on both of them and if it's still much cheaper (rarely ever is), then go for it. |

Bought watches from Jomashop, Gemnation, Authenticwatches, and Ashford. No problems, but watches will come under sellers warranty, you will not get manufacturers warranty.

Ping a message to DavidSW first and ask him what he can do one for. Then do the maths and see if the numbers work for you. I contacted him about a 533 and even on the assumption that I flew over and brought it back myself and paid the 20% VAT, and with the crap exchange rate, I would still stand to save about £1,000 on the price of the watch (not including air fare). Not to be sniffed at. If you happen to come across a nice customs man that's not interested in your watch and you avoid the VAT then the saving becomes quite significant. I didn't go for it because when compared to the price OP boutique here in Singapore will do it for and the goodies they throw in, it becomes less attractive. Aside from that, I have a loyalty to OP here. However, if I was living back in the UK I would seriously consider using David if I couldn't get a tidy discount locally.
