There may appear to be more black face Daytona’s available because in general the panda dials tend to be more popular. Don’t think anyone on TRF is going to have the production numbers of how many black vs white dials are made though.

From a distance and as a Daytona admirer who doesn't really want one, I think the white dial is harder to get and slightly more popular than the black dial. Neither is easy to get right now but it feels like there are more black dials available from the gray dealers and flippers than the white dials.

I have both and I honestly feel the black is better. Not sure though if I am choosing it comforted by the fact that I also have the white. Both are part of my permanent collection.

I prefer (and bought) black. I had the option of both. I have a white dial zenith but it’s TT and the gold hands garner better contrast on the white than the panda ceramic does.

I'm with you here, black by a mile.

Side by side in real life black is much more cohesive, I made the same choice when both were presented to me.

Not sure which one they make more.of but I'm sure it's pretty close to 50/50

Demand seems screwed more to white, which I guess makes it like easier to get black.

I got white first. Loved it so much I got black shortly after (all from my friendly AD at MSRP)

White seems more popular and harder to get, higher grey price.

Both is always the right answer.

White is more popular or sought after, therefore, waitlists are longer.

I have no insight to Rolex manufacturing numbers or allocation (nobody here does), but I think they produce an identical number of white and black dial 116500s.

I’m nearsighted so it does not matter. Both are clearly readable to me.

originally had been waiting on a black dial, but got a call from my AD just before christmas that a white dial 116500 was ready to fly. I didn’t hesitate one moment, and i’m glad i didn’t. it’s a fabulous watch that (in my own idiotic opinion) absolutely lives up to the hype, is worth the wait, etc.

but i am still waiting on a black dial as well, because i think it’s more subtle and i find it irresitably beautiful.

I like both. Who knows the numbers. Black is more understated. Nothing says 'I got a Ceramic Daytona' more than the white.

I would want them both equally. At first it was only white dial, but the black, man, it looks great. I could see me owning both.

I heard the Rolex elf who makes the white face has more seniority so gets two extra weeks of vacation over the elf who makes the black face hence the lower white face supply. That’s what I heard at an AD anyway.
