Does anything look off with this hulk?

Buddy is thinking about getting this hulk and I figured I’d throw it up on here to see if you guys think it’s legit.

the bracelet, at the point between the lugs seems to have a slight gap on one side and a nice tight fit on the other side. Not sure if this is an issue, but my sub bracelet is tight on both sides of the lugs. Also, maybe the crown is a bit popped out? Other's with more expertise might be more helpful.

It’s a 2014, comes with box and papers and receipt but I’ve heard how good the fakes have gotten.

See my post #3. These are important questions. If he's buying it from a well known dealer for $14,000, he'll probably be fine. Unknown private seller for $9000, probably fake.

The color of the bezel and dial and looks fake. I’m no expert but something doesn’t look right.

Does anything look off with this hulk?

Does it have warranty card matching serial number? Contact
That dealer (they might be helpful, but can’t expect them)

If you have another sub can make lots of comparisons:

Get a loupe look for the crown on glass, look at the numbers on the bezel

Check proper alignment of the engraved rehaut

Feel the bezel click and how it stops when going the wrong way.

Look down at the day flip a few days it it has a certain
Texture on the white kinda “cottage cheese spackel like” for lack of better description terms.
Should show a depth for the green where it drops to the day.
Listen for the distinct sound of it ticking.

Check the lume in a dark room

Feel the glidelock clocks
Weigh it.

Just me or is that magnifier lined up right and a ghostly looking image emerges in the first pic just left of the “2” off the magnifier!

Looks like an egg wearing ray bans

The bezel caught my attention as being rather dull compared to all the LV pictures on the forum.

I am a terrible judge of how genuine a watch is hence the preference for judging the quality of the seller instead. New from an AD is 100%. LNIB/Mint/etc from a trusted seller is the next best thing.

Looks like legit watch to me and I owned and wore an LV for 6 years. The wear mark on the clasp is exactly right.

Of course, there is no way to know for sure without a loop and 15 mins with the watch and docs.

That said, lot is down to the seller. Do you know him or her? Reputation? Price?

Always buy the seller first. If you don’t trust the seller, take the watch to an AD and see if they can authenticate it for you, although they might charge

That’s better than hoping you bought the real thing and being surprised later

In 2014, wasn't the inner clasp "blade" still sand blasted and not polished... At least my BLNR purchased new (Oct 2014) from an AD was still sand blasted. My SubC purchased new (Sep 2015) from same AD is also sand blasted. I know they transitioned around that time from sand blasted to polished. Might also be an indicator???

I recognize this watch from both the pictures and the serial number. With all due respect to the OP, there's a reason he's avoiding answering questions about the asking price.

It's $8,000.

The seller is on OfferUp, Craigslist, and other local classified sections in the greater Chicago area (more specifically, Crown Point, IN). I've personally reached out to the seller and he said that to pick it up, he'd have to meet at the mall in Merrillville, IN. After looking up the mall, I saw no Rolex ADs there (or any nearby). I asked him if he'd meet at his nearest AD, and he declined, iterating he'd only meet me at that mall.

I then offered to pay him an additional $1K to drive up to Chicago and have it authenticated there. When he declined that, what first seemed likely was confirmed.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Seeing that the watch has been on sale for months, I'm guessing the umpteen local Rolex buyers haven't bitten on the offer for a reason.

Oh, and FWIW, the receipt he showed to others on different Facebook groups has the "Tourneau" logo on it. The Tourneau shop in the Water Tower place closed down a few years ago, so there's not really a way to check if he purchased it there. Now, there's a boutique on Michigan and Ontario, but (1) their receipt headers feature "ROLEX" instead of Tourneau, and (2) I'm not sure they'd have access to look up that particular record (though they might be able to call their HQ?).

I don't have my kit with me right now, but was the hangtag green in 2014 and chrono tag still red? Pic in post #10 has a green chrono tag and white hang tag.

Oh ya good point! I have one from 2014 and it’s just like you said green/red tags.

Have the watch authenticated by RSC. That's the only way to make sure it's genuine.

If I remember correctly, Rolex started to offer green tag since 2015, not 2014. I may be wrong.....

Wasn't this watch in a WO post from a member in Chicago?

No offence to the OP, but all these recent 'my buddy is looking at this' stuff smells like a giant trial balloon exercise.

Bottom line: Its got too many issues and there are no barn finds in the modern watch world. Especially not on newer 6D versions.
