Personally I'm not a fan. I can however see why people do like them, it adds texture. For me I thinks it the disruption to the pattern that the date window and branding give to the pattern that makes me prefer non-hob.

It’s an interesting pattern but I’m just not a fan of them on Panerai

Personally not a fan (though I do like the look of the 25).
Cheers, Joe

I get the appeal and like it a lot, even if it wouldn’t be my first choice.
Anyway, it’s very much a (small) part of modern Panerai DNA. |

I like it but worry that I’d tire of it after a while. *shrug*

If it was my one and only Panerai, I'd stick with a plain sandwich dial. But if it's your second or more, I really enjoy the extra texture and dynamic the pattern provides.

I was in Ljubljana last week and came across the 643 in the only Rolex/Panerai AD in the whole of Slovenia (according to the SA). It looked absolutely stunning with the ceramic case and hobnail dial. I really want one now, but was not prepared to pay €7k for one. It was €8k list, but they offered a discount. I’ll try to buy one used.

It's a personal preference. For my eyes, it gets a bit 'confusing'.

I like the hobnail dial as part of a collection. I wouldn't make one my one and only Panerai. I think it's interesting and well executed. While patterned and textured dials are part of the DNA of some brands (AP comes to mind), it's not quite classic Panerai which is why I think they are less popular overall.
