I was in an AD a few months ago and I asked about the TOG. The reply I got was that a) it's not popular and so is a slow seller and b) the resale isn't great, probably because of a).
IMO some of the dial/hands/date combinations are very attractive, so the TOG has to be one of the most under-rated Rolexes available. But it is expensive and for the same money, you could get a DJ or a sports model that has better resale... |

Thanks for the kind words! The wife is in love with it! I will try to get a wrist shot up soon!!
From what I am seeing here on the forum, the same year/condition TOG vs. similar DJ, the TOG is worth more... now I am guessing they are more expensive from the start, so I'm not sure about the initial percentage depreciation, but I think with a good buy on the secondary market, the TOG is just as solid an investment as any other Rolex... Now I know some people say never to buy Rolex as an "investment". I somewhat agree with this. I never expect to make money on my watches. I try to buy them, take good care of them and enjoy them until I want something new... at that point I try to sell or trade without losing a ton of money. There are many things you can go out there and spend 5k or 10k on, and as soon as you leave the store it's worth almost nothing. This is not the case with Rolex... it's similar to investing in gold IMO... perhaps without the potential for such a large swing... just my two cs...
