Tried this on today, was absolutely stunning. A little too flashy for my style, but objectively amazing !

Reviving an old thread here but appreciated the pics and thoughts as I've got a DD40 PT Meteorite on order now. It is one of my modern Rolex grails and I am buying without ever having seen it in person. However, I have tried on the WG DD40 w/ meteorite and the DD40 PT with glacier blue dial so I've at least been able to experience the majesty of the dial in person and the weight of the PT on my wrist. I can't wait to experience the combined effect firsthand.

Fingers crossed it will arrive before the New Year!

JBK you will not be disappointed. I handled one and it was amazing. My wife told me to get it. I passed for now. Be sure to post photos when you get it.

My absolute favorite DD. You are so fortunate. The biggest mistake I ever made was trading my meteorite WG Daytona for the Platona. I wish I had the meteorite back. I used to stare at it everyday.

Looks awesome!

Just wondering...if the dial starts to rust is that considered patina?

To add to the inspiring awe of the meteorite dial get this; the average age of a meteorite is 4.5 BILLION years. And who knows how many zillions of miles it traveled. What tremendous fun to wear a slice of a 4 billion old space rock.

Mine is a 2018 YG DD36, meteorite/diamond dial, diamond bezel. It spoke to me, so off the shelf from Tourneau in King of Prussia, it went. The dial really does give it a 3D iridescence.

Day Date 40 228239 (Meteorite Dial) - Any owners?

I've tried this piece on quite a few times and have come very very close to pulling the trigger a few times. I've seen a few variations, the one in WG the most often at local ADs. In London I saw the Platinum version, and the one with baguette diamonds on the bezel. The dial is just amazing, the diamonds are subtle and really accentuate the dial IMO. But I have decided to wait it out for the meteorite BLRO in the end.

Never thought I was a DateDate guy until I saw it in person. It is my favorite reference of my 7 Rolexes.

I saw one of these in Munich airport AD in the summer, and wow, it really is amazing! Unfortunately, I’m not in a position to drop this kind of money on a watch, but one day for sure!

Honestly, I’m not a fan of how it looks in pictures. Imagine the look is much better in person.

I think so, too. I'm not a fan of diamonds, but I think both the fluted and diamonds bezels are spectacular.

I'm seriously contemplating getting a DD. I've been eyeing up the rose gold green dial, then I saw the meteorite. I dont think I could wrong with either one. My one concern is that buying a Daydate is like buying a car; you walk out of the showroom and you just lost 10k.

Not if you buy smart. Find an AD who can help you out with a discount or buy from a TS / grey market. If you do that you certainly will not be in the hole that much money.
