Acrylic glass can distort terribly if worn and scratched, so don't be misled by that.

i don't think this distortion is due to the crystal but to the shity camera with noise reduction set at high probably...if you look at the hands, these are also distorted ....

I wouldn´t say, it is the "same" watch... More likely it is a "looking like" - the same- watch.

Check the font of the engraving...

No one noticed that there is “5517” on the underside of a lug?

Is it a 5517, or a 5513/5517….

….or a doctored, civilian 5513 ?

Stefano would usually prefer that images on his site are not reproduced. For what it is worth, I am a subscriber and think it largely very good.

Now, what is the watch he shows…..a 5517 or a 5513/5517?

What does a 5513/5517 have between the lugs?

I haven’t thought about that, I’ll apologize to Stefano tomorrow, I used his website because I know he can be trusted, hopefully my mistake will attract more people to subscribe to his great website.

Going back to the topic, on his website there are photos of 5517 between the lugs.
So I’m still missing something

I suspect you are looking at photographs of multiple watches.

5517 = 5517 between the lugs alone.

5513/5517 = 5513 between the lugs, 5517 under one lug.

This. ^

(And... of course, the earliest Milsubs just had/have 5513 between the lugs).

Well.....not the earliest mil subs.....but yes of course, the earliest of the classic 1970s military Submariners with sword hands, circled (T) dials and 60' bezel inserts had only 5513 between the lugs.

These were drawn from four case number ranges.

Mine starts: 392XXXX - it's an early one.

And yes, I meant the earliest of the 'classic' Milsubs.

A late one in the context of 5513s.

Indeed.

I meant 'early' in the context of 'classic' Milsubs - 5513 - 5513/5517 - 5517.

So in summary, 5517 between the lugs and 5517 on the underside of the lug is not a valid combination?
