Worth fixing up?

I’ve had this watch 20+ years, just found it.

I assume it needs an overhaul to be properly functional.

If I recall I paid like $250 back around the turn of the century.

Should I have it serviced or scrap it?

Don't scrap it! Looks like a SKX009 . . . very cool watch, likely still running. Made in 2001 with Singapore movement.

Of course keep it! Parts are plentiful and it’s easy to service. Get it back on the wrist!

Service the movement, possibly the crystal if needed, but keep the rest of that classic as is.

That's SKX009K for sure. It's bulletproof and tough as nails. Have it serviced, cleaned and wear it for another 20 years. My SKX007 and SKX009 stand proudly next to my Rolex Sub and Seamaster.

So it seems that Seiko no longer produces the bracelet for the SKX009?

Is that true and if so, would this aftermarket bracelet for SKX007 fit?

Yes it will fit. It mentions SKX009 in the description among the suitable watches.

Nice to see an SKX saved from the scrap heap. Wonderful workhorse watches. You don’t need to send it to Seiko… parts are plentiful and it’s a simple movement.
