Champagne dials

Does anybody has trouble reading the Champagne dials? I was told they are hard to read. The gold looks really good on blondes.

New to the forum and happy to get help - thanks.

Hi Marcia! Welcome to TRF. My wife and I have matching DJs with champagne dials. I don't have a problem reading mine, but my wife does have some problems with her Lady DJ, depending on the lighting at the time.

They are great, though, even on a brunette!

Welcome Marcia-

I have an TT DJ with a champagne dial. It is sometimes harder to read than many other dial/hand combination. There is just not as much contrast between the gold hands and the gold dial.

However, in twenty years and several services I have never thought seriously about changing the dial. It is a great look and elegant without being blingy.

If you love the look, (and many do), don't let the readability question deter you. It is not bad enough to worry about.

Hi Marcia, welcome to TRF.
I too have a champagne dial on my TTDJ.
I had considered changing the dial, due to the readability factor, but have decided against it.
The champagne dial appears to change colour depending on the light source and is stunning at times.
Yes it may be slightly harder to read at times, than say a white dial, but it more than compensates for this in its beauty.

My father in law has just got a DJII TT diamond champagne dial and loves it even though it is quite hard to read the time on it.

I am trying to decide between the champagne stick dial and the white Roman dial on a men's TTDJ.

Yes x100 I have a Rolex Day-Date with a champagne dial and gold hands. It is definitely not readily legible and this is because there is no or no strong contrast between the hands and the dial.

I suggest that you look at a dial/hand combination that yields a high level of contrast for quick clear discernible viewing

I saw a nice champagne dial with the hands and hour markers painted black. I thought it was unique!

Thanks for the champagne dial help!

Thanks to everyone that responded on the champagne dial. I'm going with a DJ in the white/Roman and a midsize. I think the men's DJ is too big for my small wrist. I need a large watch so I can read it. My ladies Cartier is way too small to read. Anybody have a Midsize? It's a nice size for a woman. larger but not overpowering.

Marcia, the white roman dial is my favourite too.. I'm sure you can find a mid-size. My advice if for you to visit the 'buyers/sellers whos whos' section and personal message some of the trusted trf sellers. I'm sure you can work something out with them.

I've had a couple champagne dials and had no problem with reading them. I've also had/have black and silver face Rolex and find them easy to read. However, if you think you may trouble, white is really a bright and clear look on almost any watch.

Hello Marcia!
Champagne dials look really nice and elegant, but of course, it is a matter of personal taste: as you can see here, some people like it and other not.

Problem sometimes occur in viewing, under some light conditions, if hands are made of gold. So gold hands over golden dial, make a hard visibility condition sometimes.
If you got black hands over golden (champagne) dial, like the beautiful watches Alllan (Prince) shows above, I feel you won´t have any trouble reading the time.

Hope you will enjoy this nice Forum, and will share with us your experience and feelings about Rolex and watches in general.
Best cordial regards, Abel.

I can attest that they are indeed hard to read in some lighting circumstances...
