I don't buy into this type of thinking too much. It's typical inflexible watch forum thinking. So what? Though it's good to have a "classic" watch where nothing's changed and discontinued (I'm not denying that), I don't think it's dispositive. It's not the most important thing.
The most important thing, in my book, is quality and a timeless design ( discontinued or not) that looks best. Which is the one I think looks better??? THAT'S the crucial point. If I like the look of the SM 300 coaxial and feel that it's timeless and actually think it looks better than a Submariner or Sea Dweller, then I'm going to get the SM. I'm not going to keep telling myself that the Sub or Dweller is classic and hasn't changed...and then I should get that one. I try not to let "classic" status cloud my thinking into determining what I like better. No sir. As mentioned, the SMP and PO are still there ( but, as I said, that's not really the point) |

Omega would be crazy to replace the PO8500 with this watch. I fully expect it to stick around, though maybe in a slightly thinner form with the new anti-mag movement. Not everyone is going to buy a watch with fake vintage lume and a pancake dial. Also, I'd love to see a 2254 version of the current SMPC - I don't like the bond bracelet or skeleton hands at all. If they got rid of them, it would surpass the 2254 in all ways (for me). |

I don't. The SMP still uses the Co-Axial movement. Only the PO was upgraded to the in-house 8500. And what's wrong with that? Would you rather spend thousands on a watch with a base ETA or one with an in-house movement not offered by any other company?

Many people like the constant changes Omega makes in their lineup and that's perfectly fine. I don't like, and that's it.

As I said, what's not to love??
Upgraded movement/tech and timeless design

Ok, it took a few days but I officially like this watch, and dare I say more than the 114060.
I was all set on the Subc but this has thrown a wrench in the plans. So long to wait. |

I have a 114060 No Date Sub which I really like...but I like the looks of this one even better. More unique IMO.

Way too early to write off a Submariner because of this watch, there is no way of telling how we like the long lugs, how it sits on the wrist, how we like the PLCs and/or fake patina.
If anything, I think this SM300 will fit great right next to my Submariner 114060. They are both the modern decendants the originals but without all the hassle and risks of buying a vintage piece that cannot be used and abused the same way. Lastly, this is not replacing anything, it is a new offering and clearly part of an overall Swatch Groupd strategy to re-release a bunch of old designs (Ploprof, Bullhead, Speedmasters galore, etc, etc, etc) for us old grumpy folks ;-) |

How true! I was dead-set on a DSSD until I actually tried it on and then it was immediately clear it wasn't for me. I love the look of the 300 but I'm going to have to try it on first, no pre-order option for me, too risky (I'm not big on flipping nor do I have the experience necessary).

I think the long lugs won't be an issue, both the YM/YM2 have long lugs and I like those watches. The pics of Urqhart wearing the sedna look just utterly sick.
At first thought I said, rose gold, dumb move but I'll be damned if that thing isn't gorgeous, the two tone is brilliantly executed. I'm 90% sold, but this is like a court case, so I need the rest of the jurors to jump aboard to reach a verdict but that won't happen until Nov, this is a long trial. |

Totally agree.... the sedna is killer - but at the same time - at the price point it will be tough when you compare other models that could be had for that kind of cabbage... the SS is surprisingly priced...but for me...a bit redundant..too many black dialed divers in my collection... But the TT --- WOW! if this watch is anything near as beautiful on the wrist as in the pics...the TT is the one for me |

guys you're not right, but also not wrong
the case has a Genta feel to it if you look at the PP5711 it has a fairly long case and lugs i see some Genta DNA in the new SMP

I agree with many that this is the first new Omega in a long while that has me very interested. From the pics in this thread it is absolutely stunning. It is a must try on to see what version will sing to me. I am very sure one will. The technology in this watch and the thickness of the case has me wanting to run to the AD and wait for it to come in!

the more i look at this watch, the more i like it.
i just hope it feels as good as it looks. if it does, this will be the top of my list. no question. i think it looks, by far, the best of any release this year. at least any that i have seen. my biggest problem: which version to get.

I think they also may look longer visually due to the fact they are rather flat as they extend from the case, unlike a PO or a Rolex lugs which have an arc.
On his wrist the watch seems rather normal looking so it will be interesting to try on in person. The tt is the one calling most, I like the ss also but the white seconds hands seems out of place....I know heritage.., but still. |

The Speedmaster '57 has long straight lugs as well, it is an Omega thing
All I'm saying is that it is worth noticing and be conscious about when trying it on. |

I see zero Genta influence. It's pure vintage Omega design cues.

I've been staring and reading about this watch a lot and have come to realise that I absolutely love everything about it, even the fake patina. Very excited and can't wait for it's release.
Of course I love the: Sedna gold TT SS Ti TT Ti in that order, of course I'll just end up with the ss. Omega did an excellent job with this watch. Here's come live pics. |

TT and Gold look the best. The SS model looks a little flat.

for as weird and off the SS version looks (mostly due to the combo of extensive polished SS with the fake patina dial (grrr)), the all RG and the TT with black dial models look

The sedna gold model is awesome, but I would never spend that kind of money on an Omega.

Looks like they really screwed up the SS version with the polished case and center links to go along with a vintage dial with patina markers.............ugh!!!! The gold is a thing of beauty and a brushed case and bracelet would have made the SS model the true winner. Oh well..........

Anyone have pics of the lume yet? I swore I thought that I saw somewhere that the numbers on the bezel glowed as well. That'd seal the deal for me. :)
