Icon9 New job. Milestone birthday. I'm going grey (market)

Hello.

Big year for me. So I want to pick up a sub to celebrate.

I'm going to go from a very trusted seller here, but is there anything I should worry about.

They said it will be brand new with papers and my name on the card.

Email communication is good but very short on their end.
I'll write a page and I get a one liner back. It's alwayse quick and does answer my questions, but just not very personal.

What else should I do to make sure I get a good one in the grey market.

Joe

Sellers are all different. As long as you did your homework on the seller, you should feel comfortable. I bought mine from a TS here (NIB) and had the same worry you did. I took it to my local AD who confirmed it to be authentic, sized it, then told me how jealous he was.

Sounds like you are working with David SW. His reputation is as strong as steel on here. Hundreds of positive reviews can't be wrong.

No problem as long as you've done your research on the seller.

Why would you write a page?
If you want to get personal, go to AD fir "experience".
If you know what you want, go to Takuya and you will be taken care of well

Give them a call rather than long emails. Best of luck. If you're going with one of the trusted sellers here you'll be fine.

If your buying from a trusted seller NIB with your name on the card w/ warranty that's not grey market. If your dealing with David he is a stand up guy and you will not be disappointed.

Why would he write a page? He probably had a lot of questions for the seller, which shouldn't be to uncommon given how much a Rolex costs.

Fear not. The length of a man's email does not reflect the amount of that man's integrity. The busier I get, the shorter my email responses become, so I can identify with this seller and I'm sure you can too. If you're dealing with a TRF trusted seller you'll be all good.

Just do your homework as others have stated. Maybe ask if the cards and paperwork will be in English or from overseas. Maybe ask what the return policy is, but I'm sure you will be fine.

It is a high $ item, if it bothers you, do as CHAD072 did and get it looked at by an AD after you get it for peace of mind.

And enjoy your new watch.

It's a little daunting at first.

They're called Trusted Sellers for a reason, though.

If you look at their reviews and are satisfied; if you are comfortable with their return and refund policies;if you can wire transfer funds and not need sedation(Ok, I still find this part stressful )
then just do it!!!!!

And congratulations on your milestone BDay

Hey OP,

I'm actually in the process of getting two watches from one of our trusted sellers.

I know exactly what you are talking about. My first email was very long simply because it's my first time buying a watch this way and the response was short but to the point.

You have to understand that these guys are trusted for a reason and they are probably dealing with a lot of emails every day. I don't think it's it's realistic to except them to write a page back when they can communicate efficiently in a few sentences.

The trusted sellers have been around for a long time and this is what they do.

I would not worry.

Same experience on two purchases myself from trusted sellers here. Nothing to worry about, as they can get busy at times.

DavidSW comes highly regarded as far as my dealings with him...2 purchases in the last 2 weeks, and Im planning on another, as soon as he locates the piece Im on the hunt for. He may be "short" on the phone, but I assure you, its because he is all business! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

My list of customer priorities are:
The person standing in front of me
The person on the phone
The person who has emailed.
And way way down the list, snail mail and carrier pigeon.

I get email enquiries, but (not so) deep down I suspect they may well be copy and pasting emails to dozens of other shops.

Sounds like a good recommendation, I've made a mental note.
(Although I might add, I'd rather deal with someone warm and chatty, because if something goes wrong with the transaction, I dont want to deal with someone who is being 'short'.)

Probably best to ask 1 or 2 questions and send over a few emails/PMs rather than many questions in a long one.

I can imagine people writing a single email and then sending it to multiple sellers, but at some point, believing in hundreds of positive reviews spanning years is enough for me. Even if there is a small lapse or delay in returning an email or two, the reputation is enough.

When I emailed the person I'm currently dealing with, I told him that I had emailed another person on the forum about a month ago. That was true. That was the only other person I contacted. It wasn't even about trying to get a better deal. I just wanted to be honest with someone I'm doing business with. The first person I contacted actually gave me a better price. To be fair I wasn't quite ready to buy at that time and was doing my research.

I tried to be as polite and respectful as possible but in the end I didn't feel quite comfortable with the first person I contacted. A little more money to work with someone you feel more comfortable with is well worth it.

I'm getting two watches and the first is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Everything has gone smoothly so far and I'm planning on leaving good feedback just like everyone else that has dealt with the person I'm dealing with.
