Also, "worth" is very subjective. If we made all our decisions based purely on practical concerns and value for money, we'd all be wearing solar G-Shocks and driving Honda Civics.

Regarding my Sub-C, I really like it, but it is less sporty in my opinion. It is more refined, thinner, and because I paid more for it, I am more hesitant to "use" it as an everyday beater. I know it is just me, but I suspect you'd feel the same too if you paid several thousand more. Good luck. They are both awesome...same for the GMT II |

I am a big fan of the Omega with the Caliber 8500 movement. I got the price down to £3,500 and the quality was excellent. I then went to try the Sub on and something about the quality of it made me sure I had no choice in the matter. Paid for my 114060 and never looked back.
On the other hand I can say that if I could go back, the choice between the Sub and the Omega Speedmaster 44mm with the caliber 9300 would be one I would look at with a lot more thought. |

I would say, go with any of these models that floats your boat, but get the ceramic versions for long term use and durability. It's more up front, but the ceramics are here to stay and will hold their value more if you intend on upgrading later. When going with ceramics, it is my personal opinion to buy new if you can get it for 15% or more off retail. I'm am amazed at how local used prices are equal to or more expensive than what I can get them for new. Always factor in the $750 AD service you'll have to pay in a year or two when purchasing a Rolex more than 3 or 4 years old with no service records.

I love the idea of buying used and getting the complete service with warranty. I haven't heard it put that way before. I will definitely be doing that.

Another note, the Planet Ocean is a great piece, but you'll always be longing for the Sub-C or GMT-C. Once you get either of these two, you'll never be longing for a PO.

its all subjective to you. any item is only worth what people are willing to pay for it.

Just one more thing...
...I've never known "good enough" to be GOOD ENOUGH when I've settled for less than what I originally wanted (this applies only to non-necessities, of course - when you need a car, you need a car, never mind that it isn't a Porsche).
In other words, If you want a Sub in your heart of hearts, don't buy the PO, no matter how much sense it makes logically. Luxury purchases are at least as much of the heart as the head. You'll never be satisfied, you will think sadly of the Sub every time you look at your PO. Plus, you will be now be set back several thousand from your real desire, thus making it even more unobtainable. Really want the Sub? Save up for the Sub, and resist the temptation to settle. |

Don't settle on women or watches.
The Rolex premium is the price of your satisfaction. |

Price is what the market is willing to pay in transactions. Your price may be different, but the transactions are all public and observable.
so yes, Rolex is higher priced and people are buying it. |

Question now since resale value is high on a rolex sub would i save roughly a few hundred bucks only if i bought preowned as compared to brand new from a ad.

You should be able to save more than a few hundred, try perusing the For Sale Forum here. There are some highly-recommended sellers here like DavidSW (never bought from him but I've seen consistent praise).

I'd go with the GMT II and my second choice would be the Submariner. You can't beat a Rolex for holding its value - much more than Omegas.

One little problem I found: bought the Sub C and love it. Love it so much I also wanted the Sub C LV. Now I am on the verge of owning to damn Subs :)
I started with a PO (still have the PO) but the Sub is hands down no question THE one!! |
