Sub vs PO. (Video)
A personal perspective of the two divers watches in my collection...
Nothing technical, no agenda.. Just my own view of 2 pieces I've owned and used for almost 3 years, and how they compare to each other... http://youtu.be/XjwwPt_YLwA |

You sold me on: "I like the fact that it's a Rolex," and "Which one do I like to wear? The Rolex."

I own both as well. For the most part I totally agree with his review. His argument for Omega was spot on. I like the cyclops and I like the HE valve. They are brand markers. I tend to wear my PO more but I do agree with the Subs comfort and balance with the older style bracelet. I think both company brought out newer models and found solutions for problems that didnt really exists. I adore the comfort of the older Rolex Sub bracelet. I think it balances out the Sub better than the new Glide lock. Accuracy of the Coaxial moment has been unprecedented for me. Mine as been well documented to do 0 seconds + or - in two months! It has out preformed all my non-thermo compensated quartz watches. Both watches complement each other and can live together in perfect harmony. Like having a Porsche and Ferrari in the garage. Why choose??

Nice video! :)
What's your say about having two divers watches? I would love to have a sub, bit since I own a PO (that I don't want to get rid of) I'm not sure if they're going to be about the same watch.

Clean Serti!
I acted as courier for a friend's PO 8500 and while it's a stunning dial in the sunlight the watch really didn't do much for me when I tried in on my wrist. The exhibition caseback was a neat feature to behold but I really did not care for the silent winding in that I like to hear some indication that my thumbs are working. |

As for your question John, my own view is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with having 2, 5 or 20 divers in your collection... It really is a personal thing and at the end of of the day, it matters not at all what others say or think... From a more technical perspective... I would argue that although, yes the PO and the Sub are both divers watches, that's pretty much where the similarity ends.. When you put them side by side, they're totally different from each other... The PO has a lovely satin, finish on the case sides, its heavy and chunky and a bit in your face... The Sub is probably a little more discreet, its physically smaller, lighter and lower on the wrist.. I suppose at the end of the day, if you can, buy a sub, try it, and if you don't think it fits in with your collection, just move it on.... If you buy carefully, it won't cost anything to try one.. Hope that helps |

Nice video. I adore the orange PO. LV has a beloved following but doesn't speak to me.

ENOCH is right. They have two different personalities when wearing them. Hate to keep using it but, its a Ferrari/Porsche analogy. Both are sportscars but with very different personalities. Also, both are gonna cost you a chunk of $$$.

Thanks.
BTW what is an OHMEEGAH? LOL The He Valve is one of the reasons I got rid of my PO way back when...along with the bracelet. Spot on. |

Thanks for the review.
I have a 2500 PO and have a very high opinion of this watch. It is very solid and keeps great time. Very legible in both daylight and the dark. I hope my sub arrives next week and I'm very much looking forward to it. If I like it as much as the PO, I'll be very happy. |

That rolex looks really smart on his wrist. I can't blame him for preferring it. To me from the video, it looks better than the Omega.

I assume that is the 45mm PO? Great shot side-by-side... now I can not decide between 42 and 45 mm...[/QUOTE]
You really need to try them side by side... I used to have a 45 some time ago, and thought it was the bees knees... But now when I look my current 42, I do think its better proportioned... Obviously the fashion is for larger watches, and we all like different things... |

Great video. No pretentiousness, or faux tech speak, just an opinion of a person whos lived with the watches. Great stuff
btw - I have a soft spot for my PO. The accuracy and build quality have me reaching for it on weekends and holidays every time :) |

Great video. Thanks very much for making it.
I particularly liked your observations on the helium escape valve on the Omega vs the cyclops on the Rolex. I completely agree with you, though I actually disliked both to start with, but then grew to like the cyclops. Maybe that's just an expression of my bias towards Rolex?! |

Enjoyed watching your review, thank you. I also enjoyed the review of your new polar 42 mm EXP II.

I do quite enjoy doing my videos, but am never to sure if they'll be taken in the spirit with which I make them.... So this is a great boost for me... So thanks for that... As for the helium valve, it seems that I'm not alone in thinking Omega could have done something much neater.... It"s such a shame that they didn't go with another more technical solution... But hey it is what it is, and I still think its a very fine watch... I'm actually waiting for somthing to arrive over the next week or so... not a watch, but watch related, I'll do a short video review as I'm sure it'll be of interest... |
