Rolex Ticks

Ok..this is going to be a obvious stupid beginner question...but I got to start somewhere. Do all Rolex watches have to be worn to keep ticking?
Thanks,
Red

No you can manually wind them now if you buy a new or used watch then you should give it around 40 full crown turns clockwise. Then if you wear the watch for around 10 hours a day with reasonable wrist activity it should keep it wound if you take watch off overnight. But it will do no harm to give it a wind say once or twice a week even if worn. Now on a full manual wind watches power reserve would be around 39-48 hours off the wrist before it stops and needs re-winding.

Tick?
They Tick?

The OysterQuartz models don't need to be worn.
The older vintage manual ones need to be wound up even if worn.
The modern Perpetual Oysters will keep going if worn for 8 hours of normal human activity, or spend their resting hours on a winder.

Most of the Cellini line are hand-wound. There is now are at least there used to be a quartz model or two in that line.

Perpetual in terms of Rolex watches means that they are self-winding.
