The YM in blue is stunning. As everyone else said try them both on (if you can find the YM elsewhere) and then decide.

Ask a hundred people and get a hundred opinions from them, but yours is the one that counts! Get the one you desire the most. I think the new blue YM is awesome, and far less abundant.

You can't go wrong with either one, especially since they are basically the same watch! The only difference is the bezel.

I would get the ym hands down. I really want a wg sub and the hulk but I'd do a YM before that.

I've seen the new blue ym and it looked great to me!
Best of luck!

Apologies for the bump.

Finally saw the YM blue dial in person. Is it just me or this YM feels very very light? When trying it, it almost feels weightless compared to my existing watch which is a Omega Planet Ocean. Can't have a closer look because the watch face is covered with many layers of plastic which the sales rep refused to remove them unless I have confirmed to buy it ( store policy apparently ). Maybe the sales rep is just being snotty. But unfortunately, I think this watch and me doesn't click.

I am actually having trouble finding any Rolex models that I like that is within my budget of USD15K. I kind of like the sub but feels it is too common. Others like date/date-just, etc.... mmm.. Nope. Those that I really like, Daytona Cosmograph, Skydweller all well outside my budget. Maybe just need to save more first.

I have to say... That I went to look at the new blue faced YM at my local AD with full intentions of adding it to the fleet....

I don't know what it was, but the whole watch was quite underwhelming.n:

Especially when I considered what else I could buy at that price...

I have both the Sub-C and YM Blue and I am pretty sure the YM Blue is heavier because of its Platinum Bezel, versus the Sub-C's ceramic bezel. I love my Submariner, but the YM is just more eye catching. Either way, you will not be disappointed.

Actually both of them feels very light. Might have something to do with me wearing a PO which is a heavy watch. I'll check it out again, hopefully a unwrapped model. Sometimes the plastic wrapping will dull the watch appearance.

I believe the Yacht-Master is one of the heaviest SS rolex models because of the Platinum and SEL (can someone confirm?). Either way, I beleive the only models that are heavier than it are the Sea-Dweller, and DeepSea Sea-Dweller.

So if you find that too light, the Sub is going to feel like plastic to you.

Maybe a Rolex is not what you're looking for? Good luck, there's tons to choose from out there!

Having only seen pics, I am a big fan of the new YM. Of course, price and availability are factors. The Sub is a Sub. Tried and true. Buy one now and save for the other. With a $15K budget, it shouldn't take long. Good luck.

As others have said, 15k could get you two used watches here on TRF from trusted sellers. Thats the route I'd take. A used SubC, and something else.

Agreed, for 15k you can get both, in great condition, and some money left over.

Are there any drawbacks to the YM line? For some reason I find this range not so highly regarded or popular here like the Subs and Daytona.

On the other hand, as a first time buyer, should I be more conservative and choose a Sub? It is relatively more affordable, is good looking as well and have good resale value.

My budget is USD15k max. I like watches with striking design elements and eye catching but no "bling" and which though enough that I can wear everyday in all occassions. Besides the Ym and the Sub, should I consider other range as well?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.
If you're not certain but must have something, get the Sub - it will probably hold it's value better, at least in the short term. That way, if you change your mind, it will be easier to flip and you'll get more of the cost back.

If I were to choose the Yachtmaster, which I think is a good choice, I would buy one used and save several thousand dollars.
