Rolex Prince help

Hi,

Im interested in a Rolex Prince and was wondering what your opinions are about this example. It is pre-war from 37/38 and supposed to be ref 40384. I havent found any example like this one when googling and was wondering if everything looks correct. I have seen some other examples without the Rolex crown so not too worried about that, but the caseback looks newer to me however I am not sure. Thankful for any help in the matter!

Hi Oscar

Firstly this is not a "Prince"
It is a rectangular watch with case and reference numbers on the back
I am not familiar with this reference number.
It does say Rolex on the dial but without looking at the movement and the interior of the case it is impossible to say any more

PS Here is a pic of a "Prince" It has a specific movement and dial lay out

Regards

Julian

Hi Julian,

Thank you for your reply and the info and pic of an actual prince! Have asked for movement photos and a few other photos and will post them as soon as I receive them.

Regards,
Oscar

Rolex Prince help

All Prince models had the hours/minutes hands above the case's centerline. The model you're showing has them centered.
There was a model called the Rectangle 4013 with centered hours/minutes and a sundial for seconds.
But your case looks much different. Only way to know it is have it opened up.

You jokers. First you tell u/motoikkyu to keep his emery-boarded dial as-is, now you're having fun with this poster.

That was a typo induced by auto-correct.
Meant to say subdial.

Don't know what you mean by that last part...
