Day Date 18038 YG - what colour is the day/date window?

I am looking at purchasing one of these and have found a specific listing I like but the day and date windows appears to be white, not champagne. Most other listings I have found have a champagne colour.

Would anyone know if these models were originally made with both white and champagne colouring? Or is a white window indicative of a replaced part? Black dial for what it is worth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe both were correctly fitted from new but that you should expect a champagne date-ring with a black dial.

Dials were commonly swapped both by main agents and by later owners / dealers, which can create slight irregularities. Rarely bothered me, but it might others.

Thanks for the quick response Haywood. Just to clarify, do you mean they were all shipped from Rolex as champagne, but then sold to customers varying as both white and champagne as agents swapped them out?

Edit: Never mind. I think I understand what you were trying to say. Black dials shipped with champagne windows, others (such as white dials) shipped with white windows, and dealers sometimes swapped them out.

Thanks very much!
