1 more (vintage), advice plz

hi everyone,

I seek some advice from you experts. I have owned quite some watches, most of them Rolex. But I don't want to start a huge collection, simply for the reason that there is never an end in watch collecting.

Besides it annoyed me that some of the watches didn't get any wrist time. I think you can say that too much choice made me uncomfortable.
But I could not settle for one watch, after all i'm a fan.
So I decided this: i go for three watches, a "beater" (Tudor Sub '95), a daily watch (SD43) and an dress watch (50's Eberhard Extra Fort). See picture. They may not be the most special watches but I LIKE THEM A LOT!

But I'm still bitten by the vintage bug, and I want to add one more watch, something special. Something I can pass on to my kid in the future.
It needs to be something of value, and something that will hold its value. But be assured, I don't see it as an investment!! I despise the words investment and Rolex in the same sentence. Sometimes when I'm in a company of people who don't know anything about Rolex, It always turns out on the same thing, what's is worth and is it an investment. They never talk of the beauty of a mechanical watch. I keep my mouth shut.
But that is another story.

But now I doubt between:
-1655 Explorer
-16520 A serie Daytona (ok not really vintage)
-1675 Matte dial GMT

What do you guys think? I do want to pay a premium for a nice piece, but I don't want to too much with the hype too. So maybe the 16520 is too crazy right now?

Any advice is welcome, Thank you!!

I don't know if it's vintage enough for you, but the 16710 gmt hits so many boxes: quick set, best bezel w the 120 click, and still charm w the red 24h hand. The 1675 has jumped the shark to me; good examples are getting crazy prices and while it's fun to watch the wave, for the prices of a grade A 1675, I would go elsewhere unless it was totally full kit with rock solid provenance...in which case I would then be too afraid to wear it!

@4rnold
Choosing between the three References should be your decision alone. Get your funds in order and focus on finding the top condition timepiece that's within your budget.
Enjoy the hunt!

GMT would complement the collection nicely. Maybe consider a 16750 matte. All these GMTs are commanding a serious premium these days, however.

Thank you for the kind replies guys.

Well is true lol, in too deep! lol
But you know how it goes once you go vintage...

Yes, the 16710 I tought about this as well. Nice ref, but indeed maybe a little too young. But then again, the price is still 'reasonable'.
The 16750 matte would fit in better I guess.

I found a crisp example of the 1655, price in the high side IMHO.
what do you think? (I'd love to buy from Eric Ku, but the taxes at the Europe border are just terrible)

I’ve owned both the 1655 and the 1675 (and 16750). The GMTs have a broader appeal and were my favorites. The 1655 is the hardest watch to read of any watch I have ever owned. It has so many random indices. It does rank high on uniqueness.

Get the 1655. Beyond unique and out of three you posted the one that will not get made again in any iteration.
