I should have bought that Sub when I was a kid.

Just lurking here looking to see what I might purchase. I think it is time.

Back in the '70s I was fascinated with the Submariner. It cost about 4 months salary with my paper route, which would give a total of about $250. Too much coin for that child.

As I am reminiscing on this, of this my first thought was that can't be right. A sub for $250? But looking at the price history of those watches, my memory might actually be correct. Now the prices for an early Sub are crazy!

So, in the end I bought a Seiko dive watch. Probably a good thing since a pre-teen wasn't going to wear that thing daily without eventually losing it or something. I ended up with a Seiko diver watch, which probably better suited my needs at the time. Still, I never forgot about that Sub...

I wish.
I also bought the first digital watch I saw for sale.
Being an LED, everyone at school was pressing the button to see the time light up digitally. That would be a showpiece if I still had it.

It was fun being a middle schooler with a paper route....
