Where to buy vintage Rolex in Hong Kong?

Hi Guys,

Need a little guidance here... I’m from Singapore and I’m looking for a vintage sub but can’t find a decent one here. I will be going to Hong Kong soon, wondering whether it’s a good place to find one ?

Michael Young at Classic Watch Repair may be relevant... You might ask him if he has any NOS with box and certificate...

Alex Pig

Check out his stuff at alexpig.com. I’ve purchased from him twice, he is also in the “who’s who” section.

Good luck,
David

Pricing is very rich, very pricey, these days. Almost at ridiculously high level for vintages here in Hong Kong. I am not sure whether the prices are sustainable?

I was just in Hong Kong and selection is great, but prices are high. If price is not a big concern, check out the Vintage Concept in Central.

I've dealt/purchased with both multiple times and recommend them as well. They aren't the only games in town (it's HK after all) but 2 that I tend to go to first. Great proprietors at each, very friendly.

Vintage Concept in Central carries a good selection but prices probably highest in HK.

Below are great for vintage and places I check out regularly:

CKE mall, 36 Nathan Road, TST - go to 2F, 4-5 nice small shops. I bought before at Watch Navi, so far so good.

Yan On Building, 1 Kwong Wa Road - GF has what I think to be the best vintage Rolex hangout in HK. Check out Grateful Time, London Watch and PnF Times. All very knowledgeable and reliable. Grateful Time has a not-for-sale selection display in the shop that will blow your mind.

It's worth using the search function, as there are plenty of threads on HK vintage dealers. Here is one of the most useful threads, which I personally used when I visited HK.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=470904

I can vouch for House Watch Co. - an amazing collection of vintage Rolex pieces. John Lee House is a great guy to chat to too!

Michael Young also has a crazy collection of vintage Rolex at Classic Watch Repair. I was there to pressure test my watch and also get my oyster bracelet refurbished in January this year. Michael had Comex, MilSubs, gilt dial subs, 6538, 5508, etc. on display. Very impressive.

There are a few through an arcade in Mong Kok. Yan On Building, 1 Kwong Wa Street, Mong Kok, Hong Kong.

I think Kens watches has a branch there too.

I recently purchased a mint GMT 16700 (full set) from one of the sellers mentioned above for top dollar (10,500USD).

After a few weeks i noticed liquid inside the case fogging up the lens, so i took it back to the dealer to have the issue rectified.

Two weeks later i received the piece back and the 'watchmaker' had tried to remove the bezel with a screwdriver!

Leaving deep deep cuts in the size of the case on a previously pristine example.

I feel completely ripped off by the horrific service i received!

Sorry to hear your awful experience. Could you post a photo of the damage and throw a hint on who the seller is (like approx address)?

I can say I have interacted with all of the HK sellers mentioned in this post and it's hard to imagine something like this happening. They all have been around many years and deal all the time with collectable vintage Rolex pieces.

I'd like to hear the reasons behind the claim for "dubious authenticity". HK is about the easiest place in the world to have a Rolex's authenticity verified and I've yet to buy from a seller that doesn't have a 100% money-back guarantee on what's sold. The vintage Rolex competition is fierce and I've not heard of any established dealer who has destroyed their reputation by selling fakes.

I bought a 14060 sub and a datejust from Alex Pig this year and had a very nice experience. Hard to find his shop, but selection was good and the condition of everything he was selling seemed impeccable. He's very responsive on Email and WhatsApp.
