Looks nice. Is all that dust just on the crystal? I'd hope the dial is clean. The patina looks good, with a little tritium loss at the 5 o'clock hour marker. Love the matted look of the insert, despite the tiny bit of paint loss between 5-10. (Can't say anything about the bracelet, since you don't show it.)

If I had to nit-pick, the crown guards were polished a little too much when the case was refinished, but maybe that's just me.

I see it's listed at 7300 Euros, which is about $8700. Strong price, but this looks like a good example. With the craziness of all vintage (and non-vintage) Rolex prices, who knows where these will be in a couple of years.

one of the crown guards seems smaller than the other is this the case with alot of the pieces that have been overpolished? will it affect the value much from a collectors point of view? Also the right lug seems smaller that the rest or is it just a oroblem with the angle?

It has a hint of little likeable rattiness to it in a good way. Cool patina. And a Matte dial / Trit combo that looks great - I have really warmed up to these

If it’s all original, and that’s a bunch of dust on the crystal, not the dial, I’d say it looks really good. Love the patina, and the crown guards are acceptable...IMO
You can source a clasp fairly easy, if desired

Very good eyes...you're right...it is smaller. Seems like the watch has been polished too much.

A lot of collectors are going to be picky...hence the reason why they want it as original as possible.

In the end, buy it if you're planning to wear it and keep it for a long time. It all comes down to personal taste.

Good luck.

Just as an example, if you take a look at all the 16800s HQ Milton has sold, every single one of them has at least one lug of slightly different thickness.

That's the secret ; ) almost all CGs have different thickness - it is how much and what angle off the top which all varies among models.

Hi guys,

thanks alot for the input, I am planning to wear this as a daily beater and am not much of a collector yet >.< so i reckon it is all about getting it down to the right price at the moment.

Looks like a good example to me & lovely patina .I think most examples about today have probably had at least one polish & the one you've posted still looks in pretty good shape & the price being asked is not over the top either . I recently picked one of these up myself ,& wasn't after the best example around as I like to wear what I buy also.

I agree. I like it too. No issues with the crown guards for me. The watch is not new . . . right!

Need an opinion on this piece 16800 sub

For my education; I’ve seen shiny chamfers like this on several 16800’s - are they original or polished / ground into the lugs to simulate unpolished chamfers? They almost seem too “straight”, if that makes sense?

Thoughts regarding 16800 offered?

Hi,
A 16800 on Chrono24 is offered for 11500 Euros from Juwelier Pichler in Germany, what are your thoughts? I can't post links yet, but easy to find on Chrono24.

Thanks!

It is recommended that you start your own thread so that it is not confused with the OPs watch.
