Sorry, no for me. I think leather is the best strap choice for a DD.

Thanks everybody for your input. Thanks also to everyone who posted pics of their own combos - all great!

The poll was pretty decisive, and I agree that there are better combinations. I'll be putting it back on its usual brown Horween Cordovan Shell strap.

That said, I still think there's something delicious about occasionally putting a nice gold watch on a ratty old $10 strap.

Nay, the 1803 is being forced (by the Nato) to be something it's not. It's way too incongruous for me. Let your dress watch shine with a black or chestnut colored leather strap, preferably crocodile.

I've removed it from the offending NATO strap.

Now alternating between leather NATO and Horween Cordovan Shell.

Need to get a leather NATO with gold hardware...
