Very nice and congrats! The dial looks like it has been refinished? You can still buy an original pie-pan dial in excellent condition for around $200 if you decide to have an original dial.

Nice watch, service dial I think. 14k is rarer than 18k but not rare 9k is pretty rare

In the USA , from the F Roosevelt administration until the Nixon adm inistration, 18k gold watches were not imported due to federal law and regulations. BTW beautiful watch. I have a 1503 from 1969 in 14k which is currently in the watch hospital.

How is it possible to determine if the dial is a service dial or original to the watch?

Thanks guys! Should all 1601 have T Swiss T to be original to the watch or were they just for a certain time period, this one is from 1961 btw.

I keep asking this too-- I think it's a matter of having a lot of experience knowing history of models etc... and also condition.... like everything that looks super nice/perfect is probably refinished. I think the refinished tends to cap the value more than if original, where it can appreciate at a faster rate perhaps.... So if you're buying a Rolex refinished, just make sure you are paying a real good price and don't expect to get the "Vintage" increases -- but the value should still hold.

My friend has a similar on his SS 1601, will ask him. Thanks for sharing your pics. Cool to see a YG one on that type of strap. It kinda mixes the elegance with some "harshness"
