New Advice On My New Sub

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to see if anyone has experienced what I am seeing and if I should just consider this normal... I purchased a "new" Submariner 116610LN from a very reputable and trusted buyer that came with warranty card from an authorized AD, box, papers, tags and stickers. I noticed the last line "Officially Certified" just looks off, the font type is consistent but take a look at the unevenness and how some letters look higher and lower.. Again, this could be totally fine given there are different types of dials out there, but want to see if anyone can comment.

Please take a look at the images i uploaded.

Thank you!

Hmmmm, it does look a little uneven. I have a sub c no date bought from an AD and the letters don't look quite the same as your pics. I'll try and take some pics as a comparison.

Superlative Chronometer is also a little off. It seems that letters with straight lines have those "sticks" chopped off at the bottom...

I’d say it’s consistent with the lettering in “Superlative Chronometer” also. Look at the O in Chronometer. They both finish below bottom of the other letters. Could well be new Rolex fonts and match what others have.

New Advice On My New Sub

Maybe not comparing apples with apples as mine is no date but there appears to be some significant differences. Hopefully someone will come on with the same model for comparison.

Yes, I agree. Significant differences with font, thank you sharing this. I am curious to see if others have font similar to what I have.

Very unusual for the lettering to no be perfectly aligned, regardless of font.
Did the watch come from a seller here on the forum?

I'd be concerned as well. You need to take the Rolex in for authentication.

New Advice On My New Sub

How long ago did you purchase the watch? I would see if it could be returned. It would nag at me personally and if you ever sold it, you would have the same reservations from your buyer. Does the laser etched crown appear at the 6pm mark on the crystal?

This is my GMT II as reference.

New Advice On My New Sub

Out of curiosity, what is the big deal within Zuluwarrior1’s photo? Not like someone can claim that is his or her watch if the papers are with the photo taker.

My Sub - a 114060 - looks exactly like the photo in post #5.

On your dial, in "chronometer" - specifically "METER" - the two E's look taller than M, T and R.

I need to stop looking, before I have a Shroud of Turin experience.

Agree it looks off, but I would ask what you mean by reputable seller?
Was it a TRF seller?
If so, I would advise not disclosing his name until he is aware of your dial issue and give him a chance to make it right.

I have seen some threads where panicked buyers, did not let the seller know and roasted them here without cause

I think this is a new variant. The font is bolder and it seems the letter height is a bit more uneven. I wouldn’t worry about it. I follow a guy on Instagram who just got a new Sub and his dial is exactly the same as yours.

People who make replicas can know a specific SN is tied to that model and can create one which they can try to pass off as real.

No problem pointing out but then quoting the photo and not editing perpetuates the issue.
