I haven’t seen any discussion on this. Has anyone seen it? Do you think it will be a big hit due to it being a steel model?

I bought one. Found that it looked very masculine and the size suited my wrist a lot better than my girlfriend’s who was surprised when I told her this was supposedly a ladies watch. Also worth mentioning that the bracelet is stunning and incredibly comfortable.
I’ll add some pictures when I get to 10 posts and they let me.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think it's a shame that some people are stuck on gender.
It's a great little package and a sensible size too at 38mm. I'm waiting to see one though, the height and shape might change my mind, I don't like deep round watches. |

But Asian men's wrists are small in size.. they are also able to take a 38mm without looking too overwhelmed.. |

Dark skinned fellow in the Burberry shop and it looked good on him, so I'm not convinced that any of the watches in that picture are strictly ladies watches. |

I would suggest anyone can wear any watch and the steel piece is certainly unisex in my eyes, my point is that Patek calls the white gold version a ladies piece and additionally the rose gold piece is made in 4N (ladies) not 5N (gents) rose gold. Using the same reference for a unisex piece as two pieces they already refer to as ladies pieces is to my mind confusing. |

The size isn't an issue, well at least it wouldn't be for me, I'm from a generation when 37mm was the standard mans size watch. |

I went to 2 PP ADs over the weekend and both the sales person mentioned this watch as a ladies watch to me (im a guy). Was able to try a demo piece for the steel model and it definitely looks OK on a man. The blue dial for this model is very unique and nicely done. I think they did everything right for this model but i could see how it being compared to a ladies watch may turn some ppl off this model.
The only problem i feel about this model is that you could get a Gold AC for just a little bit more dough.

When I look at this watch it reminds me of 'forky' from toy story.

At the risk of gender stereotyping, I do find the denim effect dial to be more feminine. But then that’s personal taste.

I have tried it on and also thought it seemed a bit small. I have a small wrist and have a 34 mm date and 36 mm datejust but this overall looked closer to the date. I do think it's marketed as unisex and belive the person who ended up purchasing it was a gentleman. I'm sure if offered in a 40 later in the year it would be more broadly received which I think watchbox guessed at in the future in a recent video. Great clasp and watch overall!

Well I knew I’d regret not getting it but to be fair I have a preference for 36-40mm watches so this one fell right in the middle.

I really tried to love the 4947 steel but it was so tiny and feminine (to me) on my wrist. Shame since I was looking at the 5146 and thought this new model would meet those check boxes I wanted.

I'm a little confused to be honest. Some say the 5327 is a large watch at 39mm, but there are also posts that say that the 4947 at 38mm is tiny. There is only 1mm between them and it makes a world of difference.

Men who like smaller size watches will go for SS blue dial with bracelet but women will go for WG/RG with diamonds bezel on strap.

It depends a lot on the wearer. I thought I would like the 7234g but it felt too small compared to the 5524.
Patek is certainly confusing with its nomenclature these days. Even the 7234 Singapore edition was marketed as a ladies watch but the 7234g is marketed as a unisex watch. |

I like it. I asked my AD about it and they said they’ve already had a ton of people ask about being on the list. I just like having another option for steel

In the 21 century arguing about whether a watch is for ladies or men is a bit outdated. I actually believe that PP communication strategy needs an update and removing the categories. There is a current trend of going down in size all across the board in all categories - Dress, Dive, casual etc. watches. Also, I always admired that ladies wear whatever they like - from yellow gold Daytonas through vintage and modern day quartz diamond incrusted watches. I saw a close female friend of mine pulling a Panerai the other day, and me - 190 cm 95 kg man find the Pan too big on my wrist ...
