Narrowed down to 2 or 3
So ive tried on quite a few Panerai and I think I have it narrowed down to 2, maybe 3. The Pam 425, the 372, or, as a lefty, the 557. They didn’t have the 557 in stock so no chance to try it on. As far as size, I feel fairly confident rockin a 47mm, but I feel the radiomir case looks better on my wrist. On the converse, the other two are more “classic” panerai in the minds of the public (and my own) especially with the dial. My eyes are getting worse and worse, so readability is actually a factor, and the luminor wins in that regard. Pics below. Any thoughts on how they look? And any 425 owners, how is nighttime visibility? I’m leaning toward the radiomir, but they are both great. And I can only pull off buying one.

As a lefty, I would say 557 for sure.

if you are going wear it on your right wrist, I would do a proper 557.
Otherwise, I would do 372 if its plexi glass, then 425. For some reason, I still don't like the idea of 3 days manual wind movement with screwdown crown. That's just a lot of screwing and unscrewing.

I don’t love the look of the 372 on your right wrist...the 425 looks right at home...to me, it’s between the 557 and 425...legibility between 425 and 557/372 is exactly the same...and the design of the dial in 425 is as classic as it gets

The 372 is the way to go.
I started with 44mm Luminors and was certain 47mm models would never work. I have medium to larger sized wrists, but I was always skeptical. Fast forward a year or so and I picked up a Radiomir 1940 in 47mm. I was surprised by how well it wore on the wrist. My 45mm Radiomir started to look small in comparison. I flipped it for a 372 and can't believe I didn't pick one up a long time ago. The 372 is big. I have the slightly older model with the plexi crystal and strap that doesn't taper to a 22mm buckle so it's an even 26mm all around. It still wears better than my Radiomir 1940. I can't explain how or why. The device protecting the crown actually prevents the crown from digging into my wrist compared to the Radiomir models. The 372 just oozes Panerai DNA. If you are going to get one model to represent the brand, this is the one to get. I can't argue that your Radiomir choice wouldn't make an excellent companion, but I'd go Luminor 1950 first. |

372 all the way. I have the newer S series with the sapphire and the tapered 26/22 straps and I like it better than when I had the plexi and 26/26. YMMV

Thanks for the replies. Seems the opinions here tend to lean pretty strong toward the 372! I may try to see if they can source a 557, but I don’t mind the way the crown is on the right with the 372. As I’ve worn my watch on my right my whole life I’m used to that look

For right wrist...557 or even 368
personally I find that 368 have better lume in comparison to 372,I have both with the same year letter (N) Otherwise go with 372 As fellow right wrister,I do find radiomir's crown often dig into my arm (I have 292 and 339) |
