So....I’m banned from the Aurum Group!

I sold my beloved white gold daytona in July as I got the call
For the SS Pepsi from my AD at Goldsmiths.

I decided I had to buy the Pepsi so I sold the WG Daytona.

I wore the GMT Pepsi everyday and loved it, then mid September I got the opportunity to buy a 2014 SS Daytona 116520, so I had to buy it.

I found I was only wearing my SS daytona and never the GMT.

I realised I needed to buy another White Gold Daytona as it is definitely the watch for me.....and always has been.

In the meantime I bought my wife a 31mm DateJust from the same AD.

I listed my GMT Pepsi on a Facebook group ‘Real Rolex Owners’ and someone has informed Goldsmiths so they banned me from the entire Aurum group for SS Sports models.

Anyway, I sold the Pepsi sold the SS Daytona and I’ve orderex a blue dial white gold Daytona, and with the profit on the GMT, it covers my wife’s 31mm Datejust.

The ban IMO is grossly unfair as if I was going to flip it, I’d have done it in July 2018, plus the same AD offered me a BLNR 6 weeks ago and I turned it down despite a £3000 instant profit to be made, hardly the work of a flipper??

Anyway, next week I’ll have a new white gold daytona and my wife will effectively have had a ‘free’ 31mm Datejust.

I’m over the moon with the end result aside from the Aurum ban!!

Main thing is you got the watch you really wanted Gary. Balls to all these AD games. When, not IF, the tables change, they will be singing a different tune. Then they will be the ones at our mercy. Lol.

Enjoy the new Daytona!

Send a letter to management explaining your side of it. They might reverse the ban. Or convert it to a suspension.

Heavy handed Stalinist approach. Totally unnecessary. Glad you ended up with what you want

I’m sure you can still buy a watch from them but just can’t get on the waiting list.

Glad you are getting the watch you really want. What is the world coming to, when a store bans people from making 10K+ purchases. Strange times indeed.

Land Rover Houston had really interesting language they wanted me to sign regarding promise to not export the vehicles and an ability to demand full payment of the car with 24 hours notice (over-riding financial clauses). I told them there was no way I could sign that and they would not budge.

Crazy. I guess the Luxury product retailers are in the driver's seat until the economy tanks again. Talk about abuse of power/position....makes me want to get off the grid quicker than I had planned.

Curious how many watches you've purchased from this AD?

Personally, I'd be pretty irate and discuss it with them. You've probably spent a lot of money there. I'd say something along the lines of, "I'm a watch collector. I buy watches, wear them for a while, and sell them. I'm never satisfied. I didn't buy this or any watch with the intention of flipping it for profit. I plan to continue buying watches in the future and if you no longer want my business then I will take it elsewhere."

They may not care now, in the current market. But a good manager should know this will not last forever.

Oh, I believe things will get very interesting when the economy cools and customers are in the driver's seat again.

I have purchased 5 Rolex from them in 3 years.

While I don't agree with the banning, you did sell a hot watch you got from them at a profit. Which is exactly what they don't want to happen...

Ahhh okay. My bad.

Hopefully as you stated the Daytona is the one you want and you’ve come back to it again, so hopefully you won’t need to make that hour trip!

Poor show on their part Gary. I just missed out on a WG Daytona on Sunday, under 2 years old and £17500! Lovely watch, wish it had the Arabic numerals on though!

It not when I got the watch in July, I wore it daily for 4 months then sold it below the market value as I lost interest in it and simply wanted a white gold daytona again.

Obviously it doesn't matter to them that you kept the watch for 4 months, or why you sold it. Like I said, you sold a very popular hard to get watch at a profit, and that is what they are trying to avoid.

They’re hypocrites .... going after Genuine individuals like me. They will NOT rock the boat with the Grey Dealers or they wouldn’t off their unpopular stock or get their brown envelopes of cash.. in reality, the grey dealers dictate the premium on the sought after SS models, not individuals like me.

It was his watch, duly exchanged and paid for. Under what circumstance does a vendor legally have control over the goods they transferred ownership of. Imagine if the person you bought a house from had some say in how you could resell it to the next home buyer. This is ridiculous.

I would say eff em.

You did the right thing in my opinion. I had good service from Fattorini (AD) in Harrogate as an independent to try.
