Why comparing Lange’s to Nautilus? They look different in every way other than that they are both in avail in steel.

The Lange looks awful to my eyes: a dress watch case with a huge crown guard and awkwardly designed bracelet that took parts from JLC’s master line, Glashutte/IWC’s micro adjustment clasp.

I have to say, I'm not offended and would seriously consider. Not top of my list but a good first offering for a sports watch. Now if they would just have pushers for a GMT complication - boom.

They don't look the same, agreed, but they are competitors in the same luxury-stainless-sport segment of the marketplace, hence this thread.

I might get an Odysseus. I quite like it.

(While I like Nautilus even more, I'm sick and tired of the waiting time at Patek ADs.)

Lots of fine details but the thing just doesn't look balanced, the Nautilus design is polarising but it is nicely balanced and the bracelet smooth and seamless.

Remember, Nautilus was criticized for years before cahcieving its current cult-like status. Time changes opinions.

Odysseus vs. Nautilus?

Also looks like they tried to come up with a name close to Nautilus. That’s kinda lame in my book.

You know, Adidas and Abibas

Oh, and to my eye it looks like a Raymond Weil, if some of you recall that brand.

My initial reaction was negative but it is growing on me, especially if you see videos of it. But I don't like it enough to pay money for it.

Odysseus vs. Nautilus?

Points for the effort. It is unique. I think I need time to digest it for a little while but I certainly don’t want to pay that much money for a steel sports watch. They compete with the holy Trinity but they are not part of the holy Trinity. There is no justification for the up charge.

In the picture above where it is sitting next to the Nautilis it looks like they were trying to copy the extreme tapered design. The single clasp is extremely reminiscent of the GO PML bracelet, which also has a micro adjuster logo button. It is not an integrated bracelet. It is a bracelet that attaches to the watch via spring bars between two standard lugs. A rubber strap option would be a really nice idea. VC has this.

I will abstain this vote, courteously, while I contemplate the merits.

Now that a great looking watch!

I’m actually scheduled to try on the VC oversees this Sunday.

The nautilus is an ugly design that has become loved over time but this one is both ugly and inelegant. I don’t see it getting traction needed to bring in cash. I’d rather have a code 1159.

It’s so poorly executed in terms of case and bracelet design it makes the overseas look like a work of art.

Aesthetics aside, the price of the Lange is a total joke. I mean a f'n joke. They have to get their heads out of their ass and stop believing they are a competitor to Patek (that is how they base the pricing on their watches; what would Patek charge). They could be in the distant future, but now apart from us watch nerds, no-one knows Lange.

The Overseas is $19,300 and includes a bracelet, rubber strap, and leather strap. The RO is around $22k. The Nautilus is $30k because it is so incredibly hot Patek could increase its price by 20%. Yet Lange, a company that is struggling, decides to price its sports watch just below the Nautilus

A well respected person on another forum used to refer to either the Nautilus or Aquanaut (maybe both, cant remember) as the wart. Times change.

What I've heard is that Lange intends to make this hard to get, as well.

So while it won't be as difficult as a 5711, I doubt it'll be as easy as getting a new Speedmaster Master Chrono. :)

That's just one person. :)

Seems like tens (if not a hundred?) don't like the Lange.

Saddens me, because I love Lange. But I feel they missed the boat a little here.
