Black Daytona vs Pepsi
I have the opportunity to get one of the two, the black steel Daytona 126500 or the Pepsi. I already have a Panda and a BLNR. Don't want to pass up the opportunity to get one of the two to add to the collection - would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

I wouldn’t want two of the same reference (different dial/bezel) in my small collection.
That said a lot of people do, so I’d get whichever one appeals to you most. Ultimately this will come down to a popularity contest and on TRF we all know the Daytona wins |

Daytona all day!
The GMT is nice but it’s not unique in the sense it’s similar to a Sub, Explorer 2. The Daytona is unique among the Rolex catalogue. Plus your already have a BLNR. The BLRO is the exact same watch with a different bezel. With the black 126500 you have a new reference with differences with your panda 116500. |

Daytona but only because you already have a GMT. It’ll round out your collection nicely.

Since you're asking for our thoughts.... mine are get the black Daytona so you have the ultimate twins, THEN trade your BLNR for the Pepsi.

I had the same choice and chose the Pepsi...have not regretted it but that was my first GMT.
It sounds like the Pepsi might be going away soon considering the red ceramic shortages. Then again thats just the rumor mill which is consistently wrong so, theres that. The Daytona just came out so thats not going anywhere so I'd probably choose the Pepsi. People say the Coke is coming but if Rolex can't manage the red bezel with the Pepsi now, I dont know why they'd release the coke this year. Win/win. Go with your gut.

BLRO. Have both and Pepsi feels more special. Ignore the hype.

If you have the panda (white) and blnr (some blue) then get the Daytona for an all black option.

Own and love both. The black Daytona is a great all around watch. The Pepsi, due to color is not an everyday watch for me although you can use it formally and casually. It all depends on what fits you better. To me, the decision would be closer if it was the BLNR as that would be a toss up as the black and blue goes with more. But with those two options, would definitely choose the Pepsi.

BLRO a lot easier to get than either daytona. Get the daytona. BLRO later.

Why get a watch, to me, that looks like any flashy chronograph from Timex to Tag to Breitling to whatever name brand you can fill in???? Not taking quality. Aesthetics. Chronographs that have prominent subdials always always blend into the crowd very easily.
Pepsi without a doubt. |
