Incoming!!!! First Panerai

Hi All,

I've always been a Rolex fanboy and dissed the large sized Panerais whenever I saw one. That all changed recently when I was able to play with this one up close. A friend just had it serviced at Panerai, and bought a brand new strap for it in anticipation of a sale. I loved it when I saw it and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

It's a 44mm on my 6.5" wrist, and likely the biggest watch I can (barely) pull off. I love that it's such a stylish piece when compared to my "tool watches". Let's see how long I'll be able to hold onto this one :)

Looks great! Because Rolexes are barely an option these days, I was able to discover other amazing brands.....and Panerai was one of them. And better yet, its a great time to buy them as prices have fallen big time. Enjoy it!

Sorry but I have to say it looks way too big on your wrist, rather massive. It is a nice watch though

Here is a better pic. It's definitely big, but Panerais should look this way IMO!

My apologies if it came across that way but it wasn't my intention. I stated that it is a nice watch. I think it was the angle that showed it somewhat disproportionately. It looks way better in the second picture.

Great watch and wear it in health. Congrats on the incoming.

Congratulations

As you say Panerai's are big watches, theres no getting away from it, regardless of wrist size, they wear big, but as you also point out, thats how Panerai's are meant to look, right?

My wrist is slightly larger than yours at 7 1/4" but then my Pan is slightly larger at 47mm so I'm guessing proportionally mine will look about the same on me as yours does on you.

I must admit, I do tend to wear mine more in the winter under big sweaters & coats etc where its size isnt so obvious, but dont let that deter you from wearing yours with a tee shirt, its a beautiful watch & looks great.

btw whats the reference?

thanks

Due to the curved lugs particularly on the 1950 models, provided they sit on the wrist and don’t hang over, then the actual size doesn’t matter. OP it looks great.

Congratulations. I think it looks great and fits you well. I have been involved with Panerai since the early 2000's and it is always the same thing from some others. They say the watch is too large, or they don't like the styling and size.etc. I think to each his own and I like the look and the fit on most models. I have always liked the 359 and it lends itself very well to the strap game. I currently own three 47 mm Panerai watches, the 1616,1305 and the 730. And I will add another it I find one that I want. Enjoy.

Thanks, guys! I am still in disbelief that I am so into a watch that’s bigger than 40mm! I totally understand the Panerai hype how, albeit a bit delayed :)

No offense taken. After all, I knew TRF was the watch size to wrist size police before I posted!

Tons of strap options for PAM's and that opens up a whole new world. I love collecting straps and they are so easy to change.
