Got this BMW GS1200 Adv when I was last home.

Clare and I went over to the West coast of Scotland for a few days. Lovely weather (rare) and great scenery (always).

The castle (Eilean Donan) is very popular and has appeared in many films; ranging from Highlander to James Bond.

It is a lovely setting and it is where we are getting married.

I am very happy with the bike and we are looking forward to touring Western Europe on it next year.

Nice bike man. Thats one of my favourite castles in scotland. You must have just timed it right - the last time I was there - must have been about 500 american\ japanese tourists.

My brothers got a 1200 GS about 6 months ago - the anniversary model which looks the business

I looked at the BMW range of bikes earlier this year but as good as they are - I couldn't get my head round the fact that the price you see if minus all the extra's & often the essential extra's. The 800 GS which I was interested in doesn't even come with handcups as standard. I reckoned I'd be at least be another £2K in extra's on top of the RRP & as you know BMW don't do discounts !!!

I reckon next year I'll go for a yamaha 660 tenere - there's a dealer in england doing brand new ones at the moment for £4895 !! Great price but only one colour. I'll see what I can pick up in Jan in dead of winter.

In meantime - I might get one more run on this before the Sorn kicks in on Monday as I don't run it over the winter

Both nice bikes, but Africa Twin is a classic and very well maintained as well

As I rode almost all Mediterranean coast of Europe I would recommend Pyrenees and North of Spain (Bask country, Asturias, Galicia) in Summer. Not too hot, lovely roads, beautiful scenery and great and cheap food and wine
