8500 movement service
The 8500 movement has been out several years now. Has anyone had the movement fail or otherwise needed to send it back for service? Just wondering what the service interval might be.

There are two schools of thought in respect to service. As the watch is new and parts are plentiful you could wear it until it drops. The other I've heard often is when its three to four years out of warranty source an independent who has worked on these movements and ask him to bench test it so as to determine how its running.
If you're a careful owner who will want to look after your prized possession, you'll probably want to stick with the recommended service intervals, which is every 7 - 10 years, maybe nearer to 7 than ten is the general advice given by Omega. Of course if a bench test reveal performance errors, then that is the right time. In respect to the robustness of the movement, the 8500 has been out for quite a numbers of years now and has gained a sterling reputation.
