Wow! I get that the Paul Newman is the grail here, but that double red SD... that’s a beauty too. Wow.

I just don’t get the hype, nice watch but because it was Paul Newman’s it’s worth so much more?! Not for me.

I’m probably on my own with this

I was going to bid, but now it's been on another wrist (and who knows how many others) I feel it's somewhat soiled!

It is a little over hyped as Paul Newman wasn't that great of an actor or screen presence, and certainly not a seminal one like Dean or Brando.

No where near as cool as getting to see it and touch it, but I do have an inscribed photo he sent me years ago of him wearing it on a jubilee.....(I've posted this somewhere before on here.)

Thanks for sharing, very cool indeed. The chance to view these watches in person would be such a neat experience, but then to actually be able to slap THE Paul Newman on my wrist, can't even imagine!

I walked right by this next watch without a second look. But of course there's a story here.

This two toned Daytona was awarded by Rolex to race car driver Bruce Leven. What's the big deal? It's the only known two toned Daytona of this era. Bruce was allowed to choose any Rolex in the catalog. He chose a stainless Daytona and insisted on a two toned watch. Rolex obliged.

It's quite a collection that's been put together by Phillips. I asked Paul Boutros if the PNPN overshadows and negatively affects the other pieces, but he thinks it's the opposite. By having a larger than life piece on offer, it draws huge attention to the sale as a whole.

There's another Phillips Auction coming up in November called Geneva:Six (or the life after PNPN auction). Also an incredible showcase they were able to put together. There was a preview at the same LA pop up. I've detailed a few of the highlights here

Doesn't even include the original bracelet... :)

With Paul Newmans gifting of the watch, seems he's not too sentimental about physical objects. Not really a full set kinda dude. It has been an amazing time following this historic piece of our shared past time. It's much closer than I'd ever hoped to get.
