Rolex Trade?

Would you trade a Mint/Complete Rolex Daytona Rose Gold on bracelet black dial model 116505 for the following watch+Cash

Patek 5980R on strap rose gold + 45k (BNIB)?

The focus on is ONE timeless Rose Gold piece.

Thoughts?

On the Rolex thread, you’ll get more No’s... including from me. That trade and that much cash for that rather nice watch on strap doesn’t add up for me.

The Daytona is much more robust and visually attractive watch IMO.

What is the List price from Patek on the 5980R? They seem to be going for about 95K most places on secondary markets. Rose gold Daytona about 40 so you aren't losing money on the trade.

I would not. There might be a watch that I would consider trading the Daytona and 45k in cash for but that is not it.

Nope; not really much longing for a Patek!

I mean, of course the Patek is the more desirable watch but it isn’t a fair question.
It’s like saying “should I trade my Subaru WRX plus $150,000 for a Ferrari 488”?

I think the Daytona is a lot of watch for the money and the Patek while very nice is hopelessly expensive...

If you really like that Patek then I think it’s fair and would do it.

+1. I don’t think from a “value” perspective it’s unreasonable. If the Daytona is getting the wrist time then pull the trigger!

Daytona is def robust and attractive. Part of the many reasons I have doubts to do this.

Love and appreciate all the feedback here. Leaning towards NOT letting go of my Daytona but still want a 5980, so might wait.

Patek like Rolex at MSRP is not a bad deal. I love Patek but personally don't think the Nautilus case suits a strap. If it were my $$ Id keep the Daytona and go on the list for a Nautilus or Aquanaut at the AD... it may never come but it would let you enjoy the Daytona and a Patek for the same money.

If the money works out then go with whatever you like. I personally think the 5980R looks hideous on the strap.

Sounds like a fair trade and you end up with a much higher quality watch!
