Notes from my AD today - Pepsi GMT related

From a U.S. AD who I trust.

- I won't be getting a Pepsi GMT this year
- Geneva told U.S. ADs that there will be at least 60 Pepsi GMTs released to the U.S. by year end (I'm not sure if that was meant to be a low, low floor from which many more would be released)
- Apparently somewhere around 750 - 800 U.S. ADs, if I understood him correctly
- Far more scarce than the Daytona right now, but expects the Daytona to be more scarce after the first 1 - 2 years of the Pepsi release
- Hasn't had a Sub in the shop for 3 months ... note, this is a relatively high volume dealer
- The lack of supply is due to the impact of Rolex's response to the 2016 downturn - expects supply to increase this year

Nice guy. Candid guy. Made me appreciate the AD he works at.

On the bright side, this means we won't have to read about anyone randomly walking into an airport AD and walking out with an impossible-to-find GMT.

Lol. I tried when I flew through Bangkok a few weeks back. Intellectually, I knew they wouldn't have anything I wanted. Emotionally, I was disappointed when they didn't given my prior luck.

I doubt the figures can be accurate, but Rolex knows that 4/5 buyers will flip this so they are going to distribute this cash cow with high caution so it may indeed feel like only sixty are out there.

750-800 US AD’s? Haven’t been on rolex’ dealer website in a while but that doesn’t right.

Agreed. 60 units means even the biggest ADs in the US would only see one unit this year and others won't see any. Even when the Daytona was released most ADs saw at least two. That's thousands of Daytonas, not sixty.

But, the rest sounds plausible.

He may have meant global and I misunderstood him, although it was in the context of the 60 Pepsi’s for the U.S. market.

Thanks for the info but the numbers look incredibly low to me. I doubt your AD would have production figures.

I'm sure you trust him and he's super nice guy, but people still make things up or repeat things that other people made up for whatever reason., I doubt Rolex announced to him allocation amounts like this.

More likely. 800 AD's in the USA? No way.

Ok so I’ve seen some of this 60 in this forum!!!
I think that number Is very low, i guess they might start sending 2 per month to the Rolex Boutiques.
Just my 0.02......

AFAIK, RolexUSA, headquartered in New York is the ONLY independent distributor in the world. US dealers do not get their stock directly from Geneva. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone in Geneva would be quoting numbers to a US AD.

at least means, there could be a 100,000 also.

60 is far too low for the number of USA dealers out there. I dont believe it.

My AD doesnt even know what they themselves are getting in each new shipment, how would they know what others are getting.

Well, if I get mine "soon" as I've been told, that 60 number doesn't seem right. I know - "soon" is not a date or time.

60 doesn’t sound right, how many have shown up here on TRF already? And there still over 6 months to go. I’m sure Rolex can crank out a few more pieces than that. And what would the downturn of 2016 have anything to do with production of a brand new model? I think this AD may have been exaggerating a bit

Interesting information and thank you for sharing. However, I wouldn’t put much confidence in the accuracy of this information. Rolex Geneva does not share allocation numbers of any sort with any AD. You have to assume it’s all speculation. For our sake here in the USA, I sure hope the allocation is more than 60 units across all AD’s in the USA.

Yep. ADs don’t know anything for sure, just what their rep tells them. I’m hearing the shipping will be very similar to the BLNR when it came out which would be much more than 60.
Of course, even what I’m hearing is just info that my AD is being told by their rep.

Not sure but I think the current US AD count is in the 400 range. Tighter deliveries for sure but I'm looking forward to getting mine very soon.
