1680 Modified into a 2-tone

Take a look at this watch. It appears to be a 1680 that has been converted into a 2 tone. Gold nipple dial and possibly gold plated the oyster bracelet. Maybe the parts have value. Thoughts? Value? What a shame.

there are loads of SS converted-to-two-tone rolexes in the NY and tri-state area so don't be so shocked. usually it's datejusts and GMT's that we have seen converted most often from SS to two-tone. back in the day some rolex retailers would make the conversion for a customer and we have seen worse. the one you pictured doesn't look too bad and obviously has some expensive parts on it. what makes you think the bracelet is plated?

anyways the sum of the parts if sold off separately would add up to a very hefty sum and/or that watch could easily be converted back to all SS so depending on the price it's either a minor resto project or an eye-catching wearer.

I actually think it looks great... and the dial was blue that turned so I would consider it tropical. I would leave it as is, and would pay around $5000 for it.

The dial looks very color mismatched. IF the dial color were different, I might think it looks nice, but it would still be a franken.

Seeing this train wreck of a watch while ferociously hungover was a terrible mistake
