Tried on a 16750 pepsi today
I was in Cleves & Lonemann jewlers today in Bellevue KY (across the river from Cincinnati) They had helped me with my submariner bracelet a couple of months ago so I stopped in today to have him look at my son in laws Aquaracer that is having some issues, after we were done I asked if he had any interesting Rolex pieces and my attention was drawn to this 1982 16750 ....they aquired from original owner who had it serviced by Rolex a few years ago. The watch has service hands installed by Rolex but the patena is still there and I am now in love. The problem is I would have to sell my 116610 to help fund this one and I am on the fence. Damn you guys for getting me hooked on these things

What a nice watch! I can understand completely why you're even there looking at it. Worth selling the Submariner for but it is a tough choice nonetheless. I'm a huge vintage fan BUT do prefer the updates for a daily use piece now.

Nice piece , but the hands would bother me. Of course it depends on price.

You will end up with no modern watches left, a ton of vintage watches/parts, and empty pockets.
Beautiful watch by the way!! |

I think Michael Young relumes hands for a pretty reasonable price. However getting them off and safely shipped to him might add to it quite a bit. Just a thought.

It is a very nice watch but if you can't afford to buy it and keep the Sub then I would walk away........the grass is not always greener!!

16750
Can't really tell the case profile of your watch, but looks like it has really nice dial. The hands can be bought for relatively reasonable price on VRF or here. No need to color match.
Personally, I'd pick a un-molested GMT 16750 over a ceramic sub or GMT any time. There were not many these made. Excellent (un-polished with original bracelet, hands, dial, insert etc ...) are very hard to find. If the watch you're looking at has the same case profile as this one. JUMP ON IT, the sub can be replaced. |
