Rolex crown
Hello everyone,
I need some advice on a crown. A friend of my bought one because his was getting loose. Bu when he received it he doubt the origin of it and there is a weird marking on it. He told me that his watch was quite expensive so he didn't want to put something wrong on it. Sorry for the poor quality, my friend doesn't have a photo studio. Regards |

Its from the early 1950's and is a non screw down crown. It was only made for a few years on the 6084 and 6085 big bubbleback cases and was a failure in design for waterproofing. It will not work on modern screw down cases.
Your friends crown looks to have some damage on it. The Brevet cross looks like someone engraved/stamped a circle around it, not sure the reasoning behind that.

Thank you, i'm not sure he has a bubbleback because he told me that his watch is expensive.
Anyway the crown has this bad stamp on it, he should use an other one. The parts that matter to him was that it's authentic and it seems like it. |
