The Green "Ribbon" box set is most correct.

Well, I know in the '70s-'80s there were different versions of box sets depending on where the watch was sold, U.S. versus Europe, for example. Not sure about the '60s as much. (Maybe Springer will chime in. He's a Rolex box-set expert.)

Correct boxes are predicated on when the watch was sold, and how you date the watch. From my experience, using case backs to date a watch, one with a 1967 case back was normally sold two or three years later than the case back stamping, sometimes even four years. In this particulate instance and in reply to the question poised in the first post, I would look for a box that was used from the very late 1960s.

I would lean toward the white box with green stripe or possibly the green box with the Rolex ribbon on the outer lid.

From my research over the last few days and on the drsd.com site , I think mine should have this ribbon box Michael and mr Springer suggest. Green box with gold ribbon or bow ?. I went through Andrew Shears archive and he sold a PPDRSD that has a serial number 20 away from mine with a box like this ,I will attach copies tomorrow. where will I get one though ?.

The watch does not determine the correct era for the box but instead it is the year the watch was sold that determines the correct box for the watch.

Additionally, relying on a dealer web site to determine a correct box is a "recipe for failure." I've seen many incorrect boxes mixed in with supposed sets. One of the most common errors are USA boxes offered with non USA sets and vice versa or boxes with a complete set that didn't first appear for over a decade after the sale indicated on a warranty paper.

Anyway, good luck and enjoy your watch - that's the most important aspect of this hobby - isn't it?

This is a watch andrew sold less than 20 digits from mine , I guess that is very close in terms of manufacturing dates, I have seen some PP DRSD with the box Lee F kindly posted http://www.sheartime.com/product/196...r-ref-1665-mk2

Probably best to check with Shear about that set. Looks like the watch was sold during 1974. That box is normally found from the 1960s. Also, unless there is something particular for Sea Dwellers case backs/production, a 67 case back is normally found in the 1.7-1.8 million serial number range. I can't explain that discrepancy.

My GMT has a 1.68 caseback and has a 1.81 serial.
