16750 advice needed

I am currently looking at a 16750 from 1984, 856** serial number with box and papers.

I would really appreciate any advice you have on the watch, especially on its condition.

Cheers

Looks like a very nice example! Interested to hear what others have to say, I know we have some GMT Masters on here... pun intended ha

I don't like the relatively thin lug at 5 o'clock.

Pretty sure this is correct for older models. Asymmetric lugs

Isn't 8.5 serial kind of late for matte dials?

A lot of older Rolex Sports models have thinner lugs on the Crown Guard side as the cases where hand finished.

I know that the lugs are thinner at the crown side.
But the lower lug is significantly thinner than the upper lug at the crown side, that‘s why I‘d pass.

Definitely at the end of the matte run. I have read different estimates, but 8.4 being the end is a common consensus. Some go earlier for the end of matte, even 8.2. 8.5 does seem a tad late. I'm just repeating what I have read though, I personally know nothing.

Looks like a gorgeous example to me!

Great summary linked below on GMT Master dials. Puts end of matte at about 8.3 too. I'm pretty sure I have read well respected people say 8.4 is possible for matte too, can't recall claims of 8.5 for matte though. I could be wrong about that though.

Thanks for the replies. I agree I have read the 8.5mn is very late. I have read that 8.4mn would be the last possible. I wonder if anyone can confirm whether this is possible or just not worth the risk?
