Seth. Congrats on a beautiful time piece! I enjoy chatting watches with people, a compliment may open that door. Generally its either a WIS or someone that truly thinks your watch is "cool looking or unique" that gives a compliment. I enjoy both types!

The vast majority of people prefer positive feedback and there is nothing wrong with that.

You are wearing a great watch and it's noticed...you are getting positive feedback - WINNING!

I love the honesty. I we really wanted to blend, we would buy our Seikos from Walmart and call it a day.

Many have said it may be the best looking Rolex made and I agree. It's not subtle and screams to be noticed and I'd be a little dissapointed if I had that watch and no one ever noticed.

I do not have a badass $30K Rolex but I do own a Rolex DJ that I love and have only had it for a little over a week.......Today I shielded it in front of another certain real estate agent (didnt ever think I would do that, it was almost a reflex type of shield!) just didnt want him knowing I had a Rolex.

How can you not get compliments with that watch. Sub C is such a perfect size and blue is most males favorite color. Looks great on you! More pics please.

Seth, you should be ASHAMED of yourself!!!!!! That is absolutely despicable!

I tell you what Seth, I want to help. Send me the watch... get over this being shallow quickly and completely. Heck, I'll even pay for shipping. No need to thank me... just trying to help out a friend.....

When can I expect it?

That said, since I have worn the WG Sub (not even a week), I have had about 6 friends/colleagues etc..... comment on how beautiful the watch is.

My assistant opened the box last week while I was away and described it one word: sex.

One of my mechanics just pointed it out to say he loved the shade of blue.

This has never happened to me. No one ever comments, which I typically prefer. That said, it is happening all the time now.

And you know what?? I like it.

OK, flame suit is on........

You used the words right to identify the proper distinction of what is really going on, which is highly appropriate and not shallow at all.

Allow me to explain...

What somebody wears the watch FOR means the reason they wear the watch, or in other words, the primary or maybe singular PURPOSE of wearing the watch.

This for, purpose, reason is DIFFERENT from consequences resulting from wearing the watch.

Here, the consequence resulting from wearing the watch is that you're receiving compliments on the watch, AND you like receiving compliments on the watch. This receiving compliments is not YOUR for-purpose-reason for wearing the rolex as I perceive from your post. Your purpose for wearing it is likely a combination of several things possibly including but possibly not limited to wanting to be able to see the time, wanting a water proof watch, wanting to wear and feel white gold, and wanting to enjoy the acquisition and use of a valuable thing, etc...

The compliments are clearly unintended consequences that you happen to enjoy.

This to me is not shallow at all.

In some cases, the reason -- the wear-it-for -- one may wear a watch, purpose, is to receive compliments, attention, send a message to others by showing-wearing the watch. There, compliments are not an unintended consequence, and that state of intent is what I see your post would qualify as shallow (though such qualification is opinion and subjective, not necessarily shallow).

The wear-for-attention reason may be the sole reason, or one of few or even many, AND it could fall under the reason of wear-for-themselves because it, by being the sought reason, is for the seeker, therefore, for themselves.

Damn, now that I've thought through all of this, I have to admit I haven't the faintest idea of what all my wear-for reasons are...

And yes, Jockie, you may have some of what I'm smoking; hold it in!

it's a beauty for sure & unless a Panerai Bronze fell into my lap at RRP (or near enough) the Blue WG Sub is my next purchase but business needs to pick up first as I sure as hell ain't flipping anything for it

When they were released I thought they looked awful, really unattractive

Even when I got used to the amount of blue on the dial and face, plus the light shade I still wrote the watch off completely as being tacky and gaudy

Add to that, a submariner with PCL's is just wrong on pure principal!!

Then recently I saw one in the wild on a guy's wrist and it blew me away. Just looked SO cool....

Enjoy your watch, it's gorgeous

I haven't seen one of these in the wild yet, only at the AD near me. I will defiantly complement the wearer when I see one out and about.

It's not shallowness, IMO. You-many of us here-wear nice watches that we think look nice and we enjoy them. Doesn't it make sense that we appreciate when another person notices and even goes so far as to compliment our watch selection?

Congrats on a great watch and here's to many more compliments in the future!
